For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate click here! Julie’s Top Ten Settings I’d Like To See More Of Oh, I like this TTT subject. Settings kind of get the shaft, don’t they? I mean, it’s almost always about the characters or the plot or the cover, or the romance. Almost never the settings. But I love settings and I actually do have some favorites. Here we go: 10. Deserts – There’s just something hot and sweaty about stories told in the desert. It’s a whole different world. For some reason, maybe because of my wild youthful days, the desert is sexy. Plus, Vegas is in the desert. Enough… Read more »

The First Modern Post-Apocalyptic Story: Retrograde #5
The Stand by Stephen King really has nothing to do with new adult characters. I mean, there are young people in there and they have to grow up fast and all that, but it’s got a classic good vs. evil plot going. If that’s where it ends, I’d be done here. Why bother, right? But it’s not. As per usual, the questions we get to answer each week for Feature and Follow (Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read) get me thinking. This week it was Who’s your favorite villain and while my favorite conflict is internal, I have two book blogs so I needed two answers. So my favorite villain was Randall Flagg of The Stand. I was surprised to learn that some people have never read this book!!!!!! I swear, that blew me away. Now that I think about it, it’s not so unusual. … Read more »
REVIEW: One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy
Temporary. That one single word best describes my life these last few years. I’m working at a temporary job until I can finally break free. I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least. But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet–and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is… Me. I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him…. Read more »
Stacking the Shelves #4
This is my fourth week of Stacking the Shelves, which is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! This is a really great way to find new books and bloggers to watch and I can see myself doing this meme regularly…at least the weeks where I get new books. If that turns out to be every week I might not have time to do anything BUT read! This is TWO WEEKS worth of books again – I seem to do my book buying and getting in spurts! OK, here’s what I got: Stitch is for a review I’m doing at the… Read more »

Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart. Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes…and none of them will ever be the same. REVIEW: This is the first book I’ve read by this author. The book has a very plausible premise – you move in with your boyfriend and a roommate and fall hard for the roommate. I… Read more »
