If you can’t take the heat… stay away from the flame.
Katie Parks has been on her own since the age of fifteen. All she’s ever wanted is a place to call her own—a life that is wholly hers that no one can take away. She thought she finally had it, but with the strike of a single match, everything she worked so hard for is reduced to a pile of smoking ash. And she almost is too.
Now she’s being stalked by someone who’s decided it’s her time to die. The only thing standing in the path of her blazing death is sexy firefighter Holt Arkain.
Katie’s body might be safe with Holt… but her heart is another story.
As the danger heats up, sparks fly and the only thing Katie knows for sure is that her whole life is about to go up in flames.

I liked it. I definitely liked it, I’m glad I read it and I highly recommend it.

Let’s start with what I liked:
I really enjoy the hero. He isn’t overdone, overrich, overperfect or any of those other irritating things that he could have been. He was just sweet, sexy, protective, strong, and so so steamy. His character felt real, and I loved that about this book. I can totally see the guy being protective of his truck (but letting her drive it…swoon) and I like how he doesn’t flaunt his achievements. I adore that he took her to meet his parents.

I also really liked Katie. She’s a great heroine, and she isn’t stupid, whiny or weak.

The mystery was relatively well done. A few of the clues, such as the tv broadcast were a bit too obvious and shoehorned in, but since I was reading this for romance, not mystery, it didn’t really bother me.

Now for what I didn’t like:

I don’t have any faith that Katie and Holt know each other well enough to go the distance. I would like to see them be ok as a couple without all the extenuating circumstances and I feel like the end/epilogue is just a little bit too neat and tidy. I think if it was set a few years in the future, it would have left me with more of a sense of their love being real, and able to stand the test of time.
