GUEST REVIEW: Where I End and You Begin by Andra Brynn

GUEST REVIEW: Where I End and You Begin by Andra Brynn

REVIEW First Lines: So. This is a ghost story. I think my biggest concern is that people will read those first few lines, and actually a good bit of the first chapter, and assume that this is a paranormal story and it’s not. The main character does have a bit of an obsession with ghost stories, and imparts some interesting info on ghosts in general from different cultures, but the actual “ghost” here is really nothing more than a parallel metaphor. So don’t pass this one up because you take that part of the story literally. I already had this book in my TBR read list, but then a friend mentioned that it was available for free and so I snagged it. I’m really glad that I did. I read it in one day, and I’m still kind of reeling from it. To say that the main character, Bianca, is… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Off Chance by Sawyer Bennett

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Off Chance by Sawyer Bennett

EXCERPT FROM OFF CHANCE After silently watching for a few minutes, I ask, “Okay, here’s a question for you… what’s that yellow line on the field?” Fil doesn’t answer me so I poke her in the ribs. “Teach me, Yoda.” She looks at me with frustration and then looks back at the TV. “That splits the field in half.” “Liar,” I hear from the doorway and I turn to see Flynn there with a plate of pie in his hand. Fil turns around and looks guilty for just a second, then her face splits into a grin. “Busted.” “Wait… that line doesn’t split the field in half?” I ask, because that made damn good sense to me. Chuckling, Flynn walks in and comes over to the couch. “Scoot down,” he says. I try to move to the left, but Fil is ignoring me in favor of the football game. I… Read more »

Drew put his hat on and pulled it down just enough to where I could still see his eyes. He finally answered, and it wasn’t what I expected at all. “You’re the first girl I’ve ever seen surfing around here. I mean really surfing, not just messing around. That interested me. That’s why I talked to you those times. Because you were different. Like me. You’re a risk-taker, but something’s holding you back. Something happened to you. That’s why you’re… Read more »

KINDLE FIRE ROOK and RONIN GIVEAWAY

EXCERPT FROM PANIC: ROOK AND RONIN #3 We pass by her Shrike Rook bike as we walk to the truck and I catch her eyeing it with longing. “You gonna ride that thing, you think?” “Absolutely. I can’t wait.” “Hmmm, I’m not sure about that, Rook. It makes me nervous. Don’t ride it alone, OK? Make sure you’ve got Spence or one of the shop guys with you.” I lean back against the truck and she pushes herself into me and purrs in my ear, “You worry too much, Larue. I’m a big girl. I’m only gonna ride it for a few weeks before it starts snowing. Besides, I have the Shrike truck to hold me over until I figure out what kind of car I want.” “And that’s another thing—” “Don’t start with me!
