GIVEAWAY and SNEAK PEEK: RETURN: I Am Just Junco 5 by JA Huss

GIVEAWAY and SNEAK PEEK: RETURN: I Am Just Junco 5 by JA Huss

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT OF BOOK FIVE – RETURN Expected publication date: December 2, 2013 “Junco?” Tier’s voice whispers next to my ear. “Junco? Ya awake, darlin’?” I tuck my head into my chest and whisper, “No,” so softly, even I barely hear it. His arm slides underneath me and then pulls me towards him. He lets out the longest sigh I’ve ever heard and then kisses me on the back of the head. “I love you, Junco.” My chest hitches as the tears build. “No, you don’t. You’re going to leave me.” He stays silent and this is when it all becomes real for me. He’s leaving. I’m not sure where he’s going or how it will happen, but he’s leaving. He’s not staying, there’s no happy ending for me. “Junco, listen—” “No,” I say back quickly. “I’m tired of listening to all the bad things people want to tell me…. Read more »

FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: Songs of Submission by CD Reiss

FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: Songs of Submission by CD Reiss

I have so much to say about this series, I’m not even sure where to start but I think it has to begin with synchronicity.  I hardly ever mention myself on this blog unless I have a new release, and I rarely bring up my books in a review. But this time I have to.  Because I picked up this series after only hearing about it once. How many times have you ever done that?  And for erotica, no less. I’ve read a lot of erotica–I call it research.  😉 Seriously. So I’ve read all the big names in erotica because I write some sexy stuff myself.  But I figured I had done enough research about a year ago and stopped reading it. CJ Roberts was really the last erotica I read–and I LOVE that series. Well, CD Reiss is just as good a storyteller as CJ. But anyway, back… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: More by TM Franklin

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: More by TM Franklin

EXCERPT “Okay,” Ava said. “Now what?” Caleb pulled out his phone, tapping away on it. “Wait a second,” Ava said, stilling his hand. “Is it safe to use a cell phone? Can’t it be traced?” Caleb shook his head. “Not this one.” He glanced up at her. “Do you have one?” Ava pulled her phone out of her backpack, and Caleb cursed under his breath. “It’s not on,” she said. “It doesn’t matter.” He grabbed the phone. “I could take out the battery, but they’d still know this was our last location.” Caleb thought for a moment then grabbed Ava’s hand, turning to walk quickly down the block. “Where are we going?” she asked. Caleb pointed to a Greyhound sign across the street. They walked into the small bus station, coming to a stop in front of the departures board. “Wait here,” he said after a moment, glancing around the… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Through Glass by Rebecca Ethington

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Through Glass by Rebecca Ethington

Through Glass is my kind of book. It’s dark, it’s gritty, it’s real, and not everyone lives. This story is a new adult, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, SF, mystery, horror… LOL… it’s got a bit of all the dark stuff in it, and I loved it. First of all, it’s got one of the best blurbs I’ve ever read. This book hooked me right away with the description, it was awesome. Secondly, even though it’s written in first person and we only get the main heroine’s point of view, Rebecca really did a great job distinguishing between Alexis and Cohen. Both survive a pretty horrific end-of-the-world scenario, but we don’t find out how differently each of them coped—despite being right next door, they could not communicate except through their bedroom windows—until much later in the book. I loved that moment when Alexis realized that Cohen’s house looked nothing like hers. The setting… Read more »

RELEASE DAY GIVEAWAY: No Angel by Helen Keeble

RELEASE DAY GIVEAWAY: No Angel by Helen Keeble

EXCERPT Our hero, Rafael Angelos, is in his first English lesson at his new school. His desk partner is Michaela Dante, a dark, smoldering beauty. Needless to say, Raffi is not exactly giving the teacher, Ms. Wormwood, his full attention… “So let’s hear from the male perspective. If you would tell us your thoughts, Raffi?” What few coherent thoughts I had at that moment were mainly about the view down Michaela’s top, but I didn’t think that was the sort of male perspective Ms. Wormwood meant. Dragging myself back into the everyday world, I tried to remember what the teacher had been wittering on about. Something about the summer reading assignment? What was the summer reading assignment? I hadn’t even read the back cover when I’d thrown it in my bag this morning. I glanced down now in search of inspiration, and discovered I’d taken out my Biology textbook. No… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and TOUR: Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland

GIVEAWAY and TOUR: Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland

REVIEW Special thanks to AToMR Tours for providing a copy of the ARC, and if you want to hop along on the tour, you can find that here. Who can resist a MMA fighter? Not many. But it’s a tough life. I actually dated a MMA fighter back in college and he told me some scary shit. Like how after a fight he had to just lock himself away to recover from all the bruises and to avoid freaking people out because his whole face was purple. Mixed martial arts fighting, or cage fighting, as it’s more popularly known, is some serious, serious stuff. And Worth the Fight touches on some of the more horrifying aspects of the sport, while at the same time humanizes these men who can sometimes seem a bit brutal. Nico Hunter is a talented MMA fighter but the opponent in his last fight haunts him…… Read more »
