EXCERPT Gavin took my hand and led us across the rooftop to the far corner, away from the other students working on their astronomy labs. “Lie here with me,” he said and set his backpack down. He squeezed my fingers as he let go, and I wished we had walked some great distance, just to feel his hand on mine a little longer. I laid my pack next to his and we stretched out on the bumpy surface of the roof, staring up at the stars. “So how long have we both lived in the same city and not known it?” he asked. “I got here a year ago.” “A whole year.” He turned his face to mine. “Seems like the world wants us to at least be friends again.” I didn’t know which words to get stuck on. Friends. Or at least. “Seems like it.” “You think we’re the… Read more »

NEW ADULT ADDICTION BLOGAVERSARY DAY FOUR – Writing Reviews
Reading is a personal thing – no two people choose books in the same way and often, two people will read very different things even though the words on the page never change. This is a matter of taste. There is no rule as to what makes a book good or bad, it’s simply subjective. Writing reviews is sorta like reading books. Some people look for certain things that turned them off, others look for things that turned them on. As a reviewer I write about whatever the hell I want. I’m not real consistent. One book I might summarize the plot and then give a few sentences on characters and other books I hardly mention the plot at all, I only want to talk about the characters. I like all different kinds of novels and just because this book is one way, doesn’t mean I’ll like the next book… Read more »
GIVEAWAY and RELEASE DAY BLITZ: The Road to You by Marilyn Brant
EXCERPT I could count on one hand the things I knew were true about Donovan McCafferty: He was twenty-three—just over five years older than I was. He’d escaped into the Army at age eighteen and, except for a few quick but memorable visits, hadn’t returned to Minnesota until this past winter. He had an excellent mechanical mind. And he made me very nervous. Underneath my skin, every nerve fiber was fast twitching. Just thinking about Donovan always did that to me… It was 7:05 p.m. by the time I got to the auto-body shop where he worked. They closed at seven, but the light in the back was on and I knew he was in there. Not because I’d caught even one glimpse of Mr. Tall, Dark and Intense yet, but because the only other car in the lot was a crimson Trans Am with the giant Firebird decal in… Read more »
COVER REVEAL: Forever in Darkness Series by Melissa Andrea
I loved to dance, but I don’t anymore. I was in an accident I don’t remember… or maybe I don’t want to remember. Either way, every day since, has been an adjustment and I’m left with a constant reminder that nothing is forever. Now, my life is a tangled web of darkness filled with deceit, hate, betrayal and lies. I don’t dwell on the past, I don’t regret and I don’t remember… I survive. But then I met Ryland Dare and he changed everything. He reminded me that life’s worth living and that remembering isn’t always a bad thing. You don’t know true darkness until you’ve felt light… On the outside looking in, some would say my siblings and I have had a pretty easy life. But beyond the fancy cars, the huge house and endless social events, is where the truth really lies. Power hungry father, defeated mother and… Read more »
NEW ADULT ADDICTION BLOGAVERSARY DAY THREE – High Traffic Posts
See – this is what I mean. I’m totally late with this blog post today because I don’t actually enjoy blogging when I have to write original shit. Uggg.. I’d rather write reviews and post blitzes… and that’s pretty much what this post is about. High traffic posts. Some posts are worth the effort. Believe it or not, my Friday Night Freebie posts actually take a couple hours to put up. Add in the fact that I pay for all the prizes, make original promo graphics, and sometimes even review the book – and that one post is quite tedious and time consuming. But that time is well spent because I get a lot of hits for it. Even on a slow weekend, I get more than a thousand hits for a Friday Night Freebie post. Why? I’m not sure, really. Seriously, these giveaways are not that big sometimes. Sometimes… Read more »
GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Azure by Chrystalla Thoma
What a nice surprise this book was. I’ve never read any of Chrystalla’s books before this one, and for that I’m sorry. She’s a wonderful storyteller. First of all, the year of contemporary new adult might be over. I for one am just a little bit sick of contemporary romances, but yet – I still do enjoy them a lot if they are very original. Azure is something in between a contemporary and paranormal. It’s quite subtle, and for that I seriously have to give Chrystalla props. It’s something of a mermaid story – but yet… that’s not even close to what it is. First of all, the main heroine, Olivia, is not in any way paranormal. And the hero, Kai, might not be either. So where’s the paranormal aspect, you ask? Well, I’m not going to tell you. It’s a spoiler that I’m not willing to give up, because… Read more »
NEW ADULT ADDICTION BLOGAVERSARY DAY TWO – STATS
STATS! This is the one I always like to read when I visit other blogs one year anniversary. I love to see people’s stats. My stats – I have no idea how they happened, really. I’m sorta stunned. One thing to take into consideration is that the Blogger Stats and the WP stats are not the same. I’m not sure what Blogger counts as a page visit, but it’s different than Jet-pack with WP (that’s the plug-in I’m using because I can never remember my Google analytics account shit and they always end up resetting my password thinking I’m a hacker) OK – so my stats are skewed because I moved to WP and that leaves me with no page view counts for my posts, so I’m going by comments, which is probably not real accurate. So here we go: Pageviews from October 1, 2012 to October 1, 2013… Read more »
GUEST REVIEW: The Mephisto Mark by Trinity Faegen
GUEST REVIEW FROM ISIS Read from September 06 to 13, 2013 First I would like to take a moment to thank Pink Publishing, LLC for granting g me the privilege of reading an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The fact that I received the book for free in no way impacts the content of my review. This book actually rates a 3.5 for me, but closer to 4 than 3, so I rounded up. This book deals with domestic abuse, pedophilia, and rape, so please be forewarned that this is intended for a more mature audience. I will start by saying that this is the third book in the Mephisto Covenant series, but works as a stand-alone, which is how I read it. Please be aware that there are potential spoilers for the prior two books within the review, so turn back if you’ve yet… Read more »
