GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Song of the Fireflies by JA Redmerski

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Song of the Fireflies by JA Redmerski

I have to admit, I was very, very doubtful, almost until the very end, that this story would have a HEA. And normally I wouldn’t tell you that in a book that runs off despair and hopelessness, but I think it’s warranted in this case. It was very easy for me to slip into Bray’s depression and Elias’ desperate attempts to save her from herself, I really got caught up in it. So I’d just like you to know going in, this one has a HEA. But the struggle – damn. It’s quite the struggle. At first I thought the struggle was the crime ‘spree’ these two main characters are involved in. The book opens with them holed up in a convenience store, surrounded by cops. It then flashes back to their childhood, how they met, how their friendship progressed, the adult problems that they face. But always there’s this… Read more »

Archer’s Voice… it spoke to me

Archer’s Voice… it spoke to me

Archer’s Voice is a book about how one tries to overcome tragedy to live. It’s a story of how someone slowly begins to build trust with oneself, and with others. It’s a tale of finding love, true love even when one may think it’s impossible or undeserving. And Mia Sheridan did a brilliant job in making me feel every word written in this book! Archer’s Voice is the fourth book in Mia Sheridan’s Sign of Love series. While I enjoyed the first two books in this series, Leo and Leo’s Chance, I have yet to read the third book, Stringer. I bumped Archer’s Voice to the top of my TBR list when I started seeing the hoopla online about this story. One thing I hate about being online so frequently is seeing the attention certain books garner; it builds the story up for me-gets me all pumped so I purchase and read,… Read more »

$25 GIVEAWAY and SERIES SPOTLIGHT: Beyond by Maureen Miller

$25 GIVEAWAY and SERIES SPOTLIGHT: Beyond by Maureen Miller

REVIEW BEYOND by Maureen Miller This book was a nice surprise. Not only was it well written, but it kept me captivated the entire time. Miller’s writing flows easily through the story as she describes how Aimee, a young teenager from Earth must cope with the fact that she was just abducted from Earth and has no chance of returning for five years. Supposedly the “abduction” was a mistake caused by a young scientist who was on Earth to gather plant life that might be critical to the survival of his race. The aliens on the Guardian ship Horus, also human-like – and just let me stop here because I’ve seen a lot of readers say human-like aliens are a lack of imagination on the author’s part. But I have to disagree. As a scientist, the human body plan makes a lot of sense. Why wouldn’t it be duplicated? Anyway… Read more »

$50 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Chasing Wishes by Nadia Simonenko

$50 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Chasing Wishes by Nadia Simonenko

EXCERPT He raises a finger to his lips, loops his arm around mine and then guides me slowly toward the bed. My pulse quickens in excitement, beating faster and faster with each step closer to those exquisitely comfortable sheets, and then it skips a beat entirely as Terrence whispers into my ear. “I’d like you to try something a little different tonight,” he whispers, and I shiver in delight as his lips brush against my ear. He sits cross-legged in the middle of the bed, and I climb up and sit beside him, first smoothing out my short black skirt as if trying to retain some modicum of decency and then giving up and sitting on my knees instead. Even though I know he can’t see me flashing him, I still feel self-conscious about it for some reason. “I hope you’re not bored of me already,” I tease. Now that… Read more »
