REVIEW:
I really enjoyed this book of stories. Lots is going on in my life, and being able to read a short story and not have to remember where I left off and what was going on was a HUGE relief and the perfect distraction for me. I seriously loved each story. Once I read each book, I swore it was my favorite— but I kept reading and loved how each and every story was unique and different. This is the perfect NA collaboration.
BEHIND HER EYES by A.L. Jackson
In this book I loved how Misha was the quiet, good girl who falls for the mysterious, hunk next door. She battles with herself over her feelings for Darryn. I loved Darryn. I loved his cockiness. I loved how he would stalk her to see if she was alright and how he would know just what to do to tempt her to come out and get to know him better! These two had serious chemistry and I loved getting to know them better.
SAVING ME by Molly McAdams
When I first met Indy in Behind Her Eyes, I thought she had her shit together. But in this story, Indy has a lot going on in the inside and the only one that notices is Kier, the quiet guy next door who keeps to himself. Kier is the quiet prince who helps a drunken Indy every weekend, while Indy forgets about him each morning after, until she starts remembering the little things that Kier does and begins to remember. I loved when Indy starts realizing what a good guy Kier is and when Kier thinks, “I fought back my own smile. Indy was coming to me sober.” What I really loved is that while Kier saves Indy, Indy also saves Kier.
FOULING OUT by Tiffany King
What’s a NA story without the hot athlete? In this story, Courtney and Dalton reconnect. Once childhood friends, distanced by high school and college sports and popularity, these two reconnect and new feelings surface. Courtney’s crush becomes a reality and she doesn’t know if she can open her heart again to her old best friend. Dalton can’t understand why Courtney doesn’t want to reconnect and realizes he needs to find out why she’s so cold and unresponsive to him. I loved the banter between these two characters, especially the text messages…so cute!
BENEATH YOUR LAYERS by Christina Lee
I loved reading this story—Chloe is that girl in college who is always put together… designer clothes and the highest heels. Blake, a recent college drop out who is working construction is the farthest thing from Chloe’s type, and let’s him know it! When these two met up to complete a project together, they can’t resist the sparks and chemistry that burns between them. These two characters peel the layers and opinions of others off to find out what’s really at the bottom… and I just fell in love with them in the process!
Each of these stories is about 100 pages, and I devoured each and every one. After I read every story, I wished for more. I want more from each of these couples-I want a full length novel about EACH COUPLE! LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this collaboration! Such a FUN read!!!
