The Way We Fall Synopsis:
From New York Times bestselling author Cassia Leo comes a twisted and passionate love story that pushes the boundaries of loyalty.
Maybe we shouldn’t have fallen so fast and so willingly.
Maybe we shouldn’t have moved in together before we went on our first date.
Maybe we should have given our wounds time to heal before we tore each other to shreds.
Maybe we should have never been together.
Houston has kept a devastating secret from Rory since the day he took her into his home. But the tragic circumstances that brought them together left wounds too deep to heal.
Five years after the breakup, Houston and Rory are thrust together by forces beyond their control. And all the resentments and passion return with more intensity than ever.
Once again, Houston is left with a choice between the truth and the only girl he’s ever loved.
The Way We Fall is the first book in The Story of Us series, which follows the tumultuous love story of Rory and Houston. The sequel, The Way We Break, will be released Spring 2015.

Review:
The Way We Fall is a book with a unique story. The story is told in dual POVs, alternating between the heroine, Rory, and the hero, Houston. It’s also told through flashbacks and present day. While it took me awhile to get immersed in this story, once I did, I thought and thought about these characters.
Present day Rory is still trying to move on from the heartbreak that happened five years ago. But it’s really two heartbreaks, not just one. I liked Rory as a character the more I read her… but I was in constant struggle trying to decide if she’s heartbroken and depressed, or just weak. But I think her weakness is that she suffered a tremendous heartbreak, twice, by two different people-who are also interconnected, and it’s taking her a long time to get her life going again, to WANT to live and love, again. Rory just can’t catch a break… from the heartbreaks in college her freshman year, to her parents divorce, she’s just living a shell of a life as a cashier at an organic popular market.
Enter Houston. The love of Rory’s life, who I still am not sure I totally love. Actually there are moments in this story I flat out hate Houston. A lot. But what happens is that Cassia weaves these characters emotions and actions so well together, that I also felt my heart breaking FOR Houston. Making excuses for him on WHY he’s an ass. But while he’s been horrible to Rory, I couldn’t help but want these two together. These two SHOULD be together, but life isn’t kind and their history and lies and deceit keep pulling these two soul mates a part. By the end of this first book, I’m honestly battling with what I want to happen in the sequel. Because, Rory is punishing herself by not moving on, and Houston is torturing himself for things he has no control over, thinking he’s doing what’s right. But then there’s Liam… the potential new guy that could be a wonderful beginning for Rory. I just don’t know what will come in book two, but what I do know, is this book made me feel. It made me feel the heartbreak between lovers, heartbreak between friends, and heartbreak between family. I cannot wait to get my hands on book two… I need to know what is going to happen. Will these two mend each others’ hearts, or will they get the much needed closure to properly move on?
This book is filled with angst…I was forcing myself to read each and every word, afraid that if I read too fast, I’d miss an important detail…I also forced myself NOT to read the last chapter first. And I am so glad I had the willpower.

Great review. I hadn’t heard of this book before now. Although, I don’t think it’s for me. I think the characters would bother me as well. Maybe more so than they did you.
