Slack and Taut
Series: Rook and Ronin Spinoff Genres: Adult, Adult Suspense, Contemporary, Erotic Romance, New Adult, Romance, Romantic Suspense
ALL THIS WEEK I'm celebrating the characters in all my past books. Almost all of them make an appearance in my upcoming book, Wasted Lust (A 321 Spin-off) which releases next week. So I thought it would be a good time to check in and see how that Happily Ever After is going.
Each day I'll have a new Soulmates Couple and give a little glimpse into their lives -- and get you ready for the special HEA Rook and Ronin BOOK that will release just before Christmas this year.
If you have not read the Rook & Ronin series yet, why not start now? The FORD Omnibus Edition (Slack and taut in one book) is now on sale for $4.99. All together, these books have hundreds of FIVE STAR reviews on Amazon. Click the links to check them out.
WASTED LUST a story about Sasha Cherlin who appears in Slack, Come Back, Coming For You, 321 (unnamed at the very end), and Meet Me In The Dark. It CAN be read as a standalone, but readers should be aware that this book is meant to be “The End” for Sasha and her life in the Company. Wasted Lust occurs ten years after Coming For You, two years after Meet Me In The Dark and AT THE SAME TIME as 321, so it is a parallel book, and although there are no real spoilers for 321 (I was very careful to avoid them) the plots converge in the middle of Wasted Lust. I would consider this to be a traditional romantic suspense and it is not dark.

He appeared in the second book, Manic, as some sort of potential girlfriend stealer. Ronin hated him, Spencer ignored him. But Rook was utterly transfixed by his mere presence in the room. Sure, he wanted Rook for himself, but Ford has principles. And Ford is loyal to a fault.
And that led him to heartbreak. He wanted nothing more than to drive off into the sunset and never look back. Unfortunately for Ford, it was snowing that night he left town and he ended up stuck in his childhood neighborhood of Vail, Colorado as he waited out a blizzard.
He meets Ashleigh that night too. Alone in her broken down car, Ashleigh is broken to the core. Her three month old baby is the only joy in her life, but at that point—that might not be enough to save her from a deep depression.
Enter Ford, a man who wants to be a hero so bad, he is willing to break all his rules. Taut: The Ford Book has all the details of that relationship, but today we’re here to talk about the happily ever after. What are they doing? Where are they working? How many kids do they have now?
It’s still Kate and Five. No more kids for Ford Aston. He’s always felt that he was playing the lottery when it comes to genetic reproduction. He’s never gotten over the fact that he was a “damaged” kid. Kate is Ashleigh’s daughter, so he never had to worry about her genetics. But Five is Ford’s mini me. Luckily, Five is one hundred percent social and accepting of relationships, even if his ultra-genius IQ has his parents planning their summers around college campuses. Fort Collins is too small of a place for such a highly ambitious kid.
But Five is smitten with Spencer and Veronica’s daughter, Princess Rory. He’s not supposed to call her that, but he does anyway. He’s staying in Fort Collins as long as he can to be near her, even if that means he has to flunk all his IQ tests on purpose.
Ashleigh is a working mom now that the kids are older. She has her own private practice as a child therapist and specializes in kids with Asperger’s and Autism. She likes to garden and shop for groceries at a local farmer’s market. She gets together with Rook and Veronica every morning at Rook’s coffee shop theater, but her favorite thing to do it help Kate and Five with their homework each night as Ford tinkers with his gadgets.
Ford has been working in the TV and film industry for all ten years he and Ash have been married. His science fiction show had a good long run, but it was retired last spring. Now he’s getting ready to start another new reality show. His hobbies include training his face-eating German shepherds, military grade robots, and playing computer games with Five and Kate.
Kate is BFF’s with Princess Rory. The two are inseparable and ride horses together at the local stable three times a week. Sparrow Flynn tags along sometimes too. Kate might not be a super genius like her little brother, Five, but she’s a social butterfly like no other. She is a member of every club at St. Joseph’s School and heads up the junior newspaper and the yearbook.
