He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

What can I say… I love this series. In fact, it’s one of my favorite new adult series. I fell in love with these characters in book 1, The Deal, and my heart grew bigger after reading the The Mistake. In The Score, we get a glimpse into Dean’s life. The big man on campus, he’s a self declared hottie who likes to have sex. Lots and lots of sex, with lots and lots of different ladies.

Allie is Hannah’s roomie. (Hannah is Garrett’s girlfriend from The Deal.) She is the typical college good girl. She likes relationships. She likes to be close to home to help her dad. She likes honesty and commitment. When she breaks up with her boyfriend of many years, she needs an escape. A physical place to get away to think things through and where no one can track her down.

Allie ends up trying to find quiet distance in Garrett’s room since he’s away with Hannah. But when she gets to his place, she interrupts Dean’s night. When these two interact, the chemistry ignites and I couldn’t put the book down.

what I want

I love so much about this series, and this story. I enjoyed the fact that Dean is pretty damn honest and upfront with his feelings and how he lives his life socially. I liked the fact that he is wealthy, yet he doesn’t sugarcoat the fact that he’s also smart, enjoys learning, and is an athlete. What I appreciated in this story is how Dean loves hockey, but isn’t after a professional career as a hockey player.

This story is told in dual POVs and I think that makes me fall in love and understand each of these characters more. Without Allie’s internal dialogue and thoughts, she may have pissed me off a few times. Same with Dean. I really enjoyed connecting with them through their words, thoughts, and actions.

looking at him

This story made me swoon, cry (there’s a jaw dropping, heart wrenching, turn of events in this story that made rivers of tears run down my face), and I laughed, too. It’s a story that gripped me from page one and kept me reading until the last line…and what a line it is!

Awesome review! Can’t wait to read this. Just finished The Mistake a couple nights ago. What a perfect combination of humor, chemistry, and personal development in this series.
