Verity Michaels is new to New York City, but even she knows riding in a stolen a cab is not a normal way to meet someone. Damn it if that tattoo-covered would-be felon isn’t everywhere now, and lighting everything on fire under her skirt.
His name is Hudson Fenn, and he’s frustratingly impossible to pin down. He works as a bike messenger, but has the manners of a prince—along with a strange tendency toward breaking and entering. As much as Verity knows he’s not her type, and likely to land her in jail, she can’t help but find her truest self when they’re together.
Can she be brave enough to give Hudson a real chance? Will he be bold enough to reveal the man beneath the ink, or will his secrecy doom their connection? Also, WTF is the deal with Verity’s boss? No less than thirteen of your favorite romance writers have teamed up to tell this sexy, wacky, snort-inducing tale. With them you’ll visit the world’s most irritating office, a VIP room of questionable cleanliness, and the fanciest apartment a bike messenger has ever inhabited, but you’ll still never see this ending coming.
Thirteen authors, one story. I didn’t know what I was getting into, but I’m glad I opened and read.
This book is fun, humorous, witty. and at times, sweet. A sweet southern girl, new to NYC finds herself in a bit of a situation when her cab ride turns adventurous one night. Verity, a 22 year old Florida girl hails a cab one late night after work. Before she realizes it, a tattoo stud jumps in to share the cab ride with her. Immediate attraction and fun banter persists about judging by appearances and accepting that opposites do attract.
When the tattoo stud actually turns to be a saving grace, Verity’s life is rocked. Battling with coming to terms she may be attracted to a tattoo bad boy wrecks havoc on her day to day life. The chemistry between Hudson, the bad boy tattoo bike messenger, and Verity is instant. I fell in love with their witty twitter comments (which actually exist on Twitter) and how they came to terms with their attraction to each other. I’ll tell you one thing, Hudson Fell knows how to woo!
While I loved the story line between Verity and Hudson, the side story about the box and her boss, well, it kinda skived me out. Not so much that I wouldn’t recommend this book, I’m sure there are many that enjoyed and found a lot of humor with the part of the story, it just wasn’t the best part of the book for me.
I really loved Hudson. And I can totally see this fun and charming book as a movie! It would be one that I would always watch, on repeat, when it aired. Verity and Hudson will definitely be a lasting couple in my book world.
