GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Dangerously Hers by A. M. Griffin

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Dangerously Hers by A. M. Griffin

I sorta loved this book. I do not read a lot of erotica, and I’ve only ever read two SF erotic romances, but I like them!  I love SF anyway, and when you mix it up with erotica, damn. That is just ORIGINAL! I have not read the other books in this series, so some of the nuances of the history of the characters was lost on me, but overall, I got the gist of things and it was not confusing.  Jess is a girl with a past—a pretty bad one in fact.  She’s good now, but she has a major aversion to aliens.  She was on earth when the invasion took place and she was captured an sold into sexual slavery. This is all back story, so it dictates her frame of mind as she accepts a position on Sonis as a personal assistant to Rasha, a captain in… Read more »

$100 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: The Shadows Series by Marni Mann

$100 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: The Shadows Series by Marni Mann

REVIEW Seductive Shadows is the first book in The Shadows Series by Marni Mann and I have to say, this little book took me by surprise. It’s a slow book, building characters and setting up first before plot, but some authors can pull this off and Marni Mann is one of them. She gets us acquainted with Charlie and Cee, her alter ego at “The Mansion” where she works as a high-level prostitute. Contrary to most prostitutes, Charlie likes this job. Not only does she get paid well, but she gets to be someone else while she’s there – she gets to be Cee, her alter ego in the mask. Everyone at the mansion wears a mask so no one will be able to recognize the girls or clients on the street. It takes a while for Charlie to realize that this is not an ideal life she’s living. She… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and INTERVIEW: Drowning by Rachel Firasek

GIVEAWAY and INTERVIEW: Drowning by Rachel Firasek

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre? Rachel: I’m  a thirty-ish Texas native  who corals two teens and husband that puts all of my heroes to shame. I have a sprawling spread of Mesquite trees and sheep in a hidden country community of Central Texas.  I’m a switch. Sometimes I like paranormal, horror, or just a sweet romance, but it’s always romance. When I stumbled upon NA Contemporary romances, I just knew I’d found a home. When and why did you begin writing? Rachel: I started writing when I was a teen, but lost time and interest in my early twenties. When I hit thirty I decided to dig back in and to try to make a go of this gig. When did you first consider yourself a writer? Rachel: A writer or an author? I’ve always been a… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Enter the Night by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Enter the Night by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty

Excerpt 1 – Enter the Night SETUP: The girls, in Caster form, are paying a visit to the Walker farm on their first day back after Christmas break. Hovering in mid-air, they are peering in the window of the shed at Bryce Walker, grandson of legendary Heller hunter Ira Walker, which makes him absolutely the last guy Maryanne should be crushing on. “Oh, God! You’ve got the hots for Bryce Walker!” Brooke accused. “What?” The frown was clear in Alex’s voice. “No way!” “Haven’t we all had enough trouble from the Walkers?” Brooke’s voice rose again. “All those damn Walkers!” Maryanne didn’t miss that—we all. They all. Legends and hunters. They all had legacies. Nor did she answer. She kept staring in through the window, her eyes riveted on Bryce. “What’s he doing?” Alex asked, her curiosity apparently trumping her anxiety, at least for the moment. “I don’t know.” Maryanne… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Through Glass by Rebecca Ethington

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Through Glass by Rebecca Ethington

Through Glass is my kind of book. It’s dark, it’s gritty, it’s real, and not everyone lives. This story is a new adult, post-apocalyptic, dystopian, SF, mystery, horror… LOL… it’s got a bit of all the dark stuff in it, and I loved it. First of all, it’s got one of the best blurbs I’ve ever read. This book hooked me right away with the description, it was awesome. Secondly, even though it’s written in first person and we only get the main heroine’s point of view, Rebecca really did a great job distinguishing between Alexis and Cohen. Both survive a pretty horrific end-of-the-world scenario, but we don’t find out how differently each of them coped—despite being right next door, they could not communicate except through their bedroom windows—until much later in the book. I loved that moment when Alexis realized that Cohen’s house looked nothing like hers. The setting… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and TOUR: Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland

GIVEAWAY and TOUR: Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland

REVIEW Special thanks to AToMR Tours for providing a copy of the ARC, and if you want to hop along on the tour, you can find that here. Who can resist a MMA fighter? Not many. But it’s a tough life. I actually dated a MMA fighter back in college and he told me some scary shit. Like how after a fight he had to just lock himself away to recover from all the bruises and to avoid freaking people out because his whole face was purple. Mixed martial arts fighting, or cage fighting, as it’s more popularly known, is some serious, serious stuff. And Worth the Fight touches on some of the more horrifying aspects of the sport, while at the same time humanizes these men who can sometimes seem a bit brutal. Nico Hunter is a talented MMA fighter but the opponent in his last fight haunts him…… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Forever Innocent by Deanna Roy

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Forever Innocent by Deanna Roy

EXCERPT Gavin took my hand and led us across the rooftop to the far corner, away from the other students working on their astronomy labs. “Lie here with me,” he said and set his backpack down. He squeezed my fingers as he let go, and I wished we had walked some great distance, just to feel his hand on mine a little longer. I laid my pack next to his and we stretched out on the bumpy surface of the roof, staring up at the stars. “So how long have we both lived in the same city and not known it?” he asked. “I got here a year ago.” “A whole year.” He turned his face to mine. “Seems like the world wants us to at least be friends again.” I didn’t know which words to get stuck on. Friends. Or at least. “Seems like it.” “You think we’re the… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and RELEASE DAY BLITZ: The Road to You by Marilyn Brant

GIVEAWAY and RELEASE DAY BLITZ: The Road to You by Marilyn Brant

EXCERPT I could count on one hand the things I knew were true about Donovan McCafferty: He was twenty-three—just over five years older than I was. He’d escaped into the Army at age eighteen and, except for a few quick but memorable visits, hadn’t returned to Minnesota until this past winter. He had an excellent mechanical mind. And he made me very nervous. Underneath my skin, every nerve fiber was fast twitching. Just thinking about Donovan always did that to me… It was 7:05 p.m. by the time I got to the auto-body shop where he worked. They closed at seven, but the light in the back was on and I knew he was in there. Not because I’d caught even one glimpse of Mr. Tall, Dark and Intense yet, but because the only other car in the lot was a crimson Trans Am with the giant Firebird decal in… Read more »
