My last Take 2! I wrote six EOBS’s for Social Media and some of them are epic. So I’m not going to rehash any of that stuff. You can read them in the novellas. But I do have one more thing to say about this series and it has to do with expectations. I try to meet expectations and not meet them at the same time. I want readers to know what they are getting into, especially with the first book in a series. But I think I’ve made a name for myself by writing the unexpected. Not many of my plot points are predictable, but if they are, you can bet I planned them that way. Taut has a predictable plot point. Until you read Guns and you realize it doesn’t. Follow had a predictable plot point as well. Until you read Profile and it’s doesn’t. Pretty much everything… Read more »

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit James and Harper
This series started out as a novella for The BEND Anthology with the seven other Erotica Consortium writers. If you’ve been reading me for a while, you know what happened. If you’re new, the book was banned by Amazon for violating “content guidelines”. Whatever that means. But regardless, my little contribution to that book was a very convoluted story that set up two new characters—James and Harper. Both James and Harper have secrets and in this first book you learn none of them. This probably drove some people to hate the story and stop reading, but that’s OK. I planned it that way. Because this was a series about assassins, shadow governments, and none of these people were “the good guys”. If the line between right and wrong was a bit blurred in Rook & Ronin, then this book has a clear line right down the middle and all of… Read more »
GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Spencer and Veronica
Spencer is in every single book in the Rook & Ronin series. He comes in late in Tragic, but boy does he make an impression. He scoops Rook up when she needs a friend, and just when you start to think this might turn into a triangle, Spencer Shrike does a 180. He’s not what he appears to be. But then again, that was the whole point of the series. Sometimes when I’m writing a later book in a series I recall a little detail in an earlier book that changes everything about the story. This happened with Spencer and Veronica in Bomb. That novella is supposed to be the first book about Spencer, but instead it introduced Veronica the Bombshell Bomb—Spencer’s long-time love-interest who has been dumped. In Bomb I start from the beginning and take you back in time to the day Spencer first saw Veronica on their… Read more »
GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Ford and Ashleigh
Slack and Taut. Most people didn’t get the titles until a year later when I wrote about it in another End of Book Shit. But everything I do in a story has a purpose and these titles are no exception. Slack is Ford going off the rails as he tries to deal with Christmas Eve. He takes a few hits for his team, even for an outside affiliate from his teen years, called Merc. And he meets one of the most memorable characters I’ve ever written. The twelve-year-old La-Femme-Nikita-in-training, Sasha Cherlin. Slack is a deep book. It got a lot of mixed reviews when it came out because Ford was not a very likable guy in this book. He’s struggling with who he is, what he wants, and how he can get there. He’s not with a girlfriend, so it’s not really romantic. But he forges a new friendship with… Read more »
GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Rook and Ronin
This series changed my life. Tragic was my first book that broke the Amazon Top 500 in May of 2013 and I knew that was a game changer. People were buying my book! And not only that, they seemed to like it. Tragic was the first indication that I might be good at this writing stuff. I might just be able to find a place in this self-publishing world. I might have stories to tell that would inspire people. So when I finished Tragic, I paused to ask myself, “What do I like to read?” And I had no answer. I dunno. I just know it when I read it. But then I was sitting around watching TV one day and Ocean’s Eleven was on. And holy fuck, I just love that movie. So I asked myself, Why? What about that movie makes me love it? And my answer was—those… Read more »
Welcome to End of Book Shit – Take 2 Giveaway Week
I don’t write a lot of personal posts on this blog for some reason. I mean, I can. It’s my blog. I started it from page one. I’ve had help from Kristi, Leah, and Amber over the past year. But sometimes I think they help because they love me. Like, as a person. They want to help. And I appreciate them, and I hope they feel that appreciation, because I do try and show it as often as I can. But New Adult Addiction was just a flash idea I had back before I ever published my first book in 2012. I wanted to write new adult. I wanted to tell stories about that age group where everything was so hard and confusing, you couldn’t help but make mistakes. Because that’s how my life was as a new adult, and I thought a lot of people could relate to it…. Read more »
