NEW ADULT ADDICTION BLOGAVERSARY DAY TWO – STATS

NEW ADULT ADDICTION BLOGAVERSARY DAY TWO – STATS

STATS!  This is the one I always like to read when I visit other blogs one year anniversary.  I love to see people’s stats.  My stats – I have no idea how they happened, really. I’m sorta stunned.  One thing to take into consideration is that the Blogger Stats and the WP stats are not the same. I’m not sure what Blogger counts as a page visit, but it’s different than Jet-pack with WP (that’s the plug-in I’m using because I can never remember my Google analytics account shit and they always end up resetting my password thinking I’m a hacker) OK – so my stats are skewed because I moved to WP and that leaves me with no page view counts for my posts, so I’m going by comments, which is probably not real accurate. So here we go: Pageviews from October 1, 2012 to October 1, 2013… Read more »

NEW ADULT ADDICTION BLOGAVERSARY GIVEAWAY DAY ONE!

NEW ADULT ADDICTION BLOGAVERSARY GIVEAWAY DAY ONE!

YUP – I  made it!  One year of blogging almost every single freaking day!  You know it’s funny because I’m a writer, but I have never been one to “journal” things. I never kept a diary, I’ve never been one to write things because I felt I needed to. I’ve started a few blogs for my other business (which is writing non-fiction science books) but I’ve never been able to keep up with it. And my author blog, pffffttt.  Don’t even ask how often I go over there to write about shit. Like twice a month if I’m lucky. But it’s my one year publishing anniversary too, so I am blogging all week overt there about writing. It’s mostly for writers, some tips and tricks I learned about self-publishing, so you can skip it and you won’t miss anything, believe me. It’s more of a rant, probably.  BUT HERE… I… Read more »

TOUR: Facade by Nyrae Dawn + Giveaway

TOUR: Facade by Nyrae Dawn + Giveaway

a Rafflecopter giveaway In addition to a chance to win a $25 gift card and a really awesome book prize pack, I have lots of details for you about Facade by Nyrae Dawn, including an excerpt. MY REVIEW: When I was given the chance to be a part of the Facade Tour I was jumping up and down with excitement. I’ve been seeing this book EVERYWHERE and it had already made its way to my TBR list.  I didn’t even realize this was a second book with some of these characters, and I don’t feel like I was missing anything, so if you haven’t read Charade no worries–jump right in with Facade. What I liked: I love the way the book opens with these almost meetings between the characters. You can see right from the start just how crappy the hand they have each been dealt is. It instantly pulled… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair

“I’m Chris.” His eyes are hazel. They’d be bluer or greener depending on what he wore. His gray shirt keeps them the in-between shade. He plays a few more chords and sets his guitar on the couch beside him. “Well? What do you think?” I glance around. There’s not much to it, but it works. “How much?” He rubs his chin. It’s covered in stubble. I imagine how it would feel against my cheek, and my face gets hot. Addy squirms and lets out a small shriek. Chris’s eyes dart to her. This could be the deal breaker. She squawks again. “What time is it?” I ask, realizing she’s probably hungry. He shrugs. “Around five or six. She need to eat?” “Yeah. Guess I better go so I can feed her.” I take a step toward the door. “Here,” he comes forward, reaching his arms out. “I’ll hold her. Go… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: No One’s Angel by Kelly Walker

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: No One’s Angel by Kelly Walker

REVIEW I went into this book expecting it to be about gaming, but it really wasn’t. Angel and Arion are online gamers in a massively multiplayer online game similar to World of Warcraft. But aside from some chatting and the online tags they called each other (Angel’s real name is Tess and Arion’s real name is Axel), there was not any game plAy at all. I think it would’ve been cool to meet them in their game as sort of a prologue, but it certainly didn’t detract from the story. Angel is On the run from an abusive boyfriend who was also a little mixed up in some other things. She’s got no money and nowhere to go, so she takes a chance and shows up unannounced at her former online friend’s house. (That’s Arion/Axel). When Angel and Arion started playing together online they would flirt and it seemed like… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: To Know Me by Marcy Blesy

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: To Know Me by Marcy Blesy

EXCERPT “Is this for me?” I ask as Ty stands in the center of the clearing with a yellow rose in one hand. “No. It’s for that grandma who’ll be passing this area in about ten minutes. I’m just practicing my delivery.” He’s so cute when he’s being sarcastic. I take the rose. In an instant I am shocked back to the day of Laura’s funeral. Everyone in her sixth grade glass brought roses to the cemetery to lay upon her grave, yellow ones, her favorite color. “Why aren’t you smiling?” Ty asks. “Did I do something wrong?” “N…no.” “Your hand is shaking,” he says coming over to my side. “Sit down.” He points to the picnic table. “Mae, if you don’t tell me anything I won’t ever be able to help you. I want to help you. I know what it’s like to need help. There’s a lot you… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Escape from Eden by Elisa Nader

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Escape from Eden by Elisa Nader

Welcome to my stop on the Escape from Eden blog tour hosted by YA Bound Book Tours.  Click HERE to see the full blog tour schedule! REVIEW I’ve been reading a lot of YA lately, mostly because the best dystopians seem to be YA these days and Escape from Eden certainly qualifies as one of those. This is a brutal, well-written, and captivating look into a young girl’s view of a cult society she was forced to join as a small child by her mother. Mia is sixteen, she lives in a South American jungle under the thumb of a dictatorial charismatic religious cult leader called Reverend Elias Eden. She’s old enough now to understand this was not her choice and she’s smart enough to know that she really needs to get out of this place, like yesterday. But these vague thoughts become a crushing reality when her kitchen boss asks her to… Read more »
