EXCERPT ROSALYN Once home, it was straight to the family room stereo to listen to The Stones and crack a beer while dancing to Exile On Main Street. I had to shove aside stacks of albums that I had taken out of the oversized, shutter-door closet the night before for reorganizing. With the signed album propped on the sofa, as if it were an audience, I shed my alter ego by ripping off my tailored suit coat. The liberation of no longer feeling dressed for a corporate costume party brought me back to life. The flick of my neck with each shoulder roll sent my deep-auburn, iron-pressed locks flying. My hips ground while I stared at the record. I kicked my stilettos across the room (nearly landing them in the stone fireplace) before shimmying out of my skirt. Author: Diane Rinella
Enjoying San Francisco as a backdrop, the ghosts in Diane’s 150-year old Victorian home augment the chorus in her head. With insomnia as their catalyst, these voices have become multifarious characters that haunt her well into the sun’s crowning hours, refusing to let go until they have manipulated her into succumbing to their whims. Her experiences as an actress, business owner, artisan cake designer, software project manager, Internet radio disc jockey, vintage rock n’ roll journalist/fan girl, and lover of dark and quirky personalities influence her idiosyncratic writing.
I’ve read all these books and I really loved them. The theme is heart-breaking and touching and handled in such a great way. If you like a little bit of taboo love but in a serious book that honestly explores the subject of forbidden relationships, you will love this series. Donovan is gorgeous, charismatic, and delights in all of Lily’s talents and quirks. Their innate knowledge of each other is almost telepathic. Together they interlock like fine threads creating luxurious silk. But society dictates this picture-perfect adoration is the ghastliest of all possibilities. As Lily embarks on a quest for… Read more »
REVIEW: Time’s Forbidden Flower once again has us visit the lives of Lily and Donovan, siblings who fell in love as teenagers and have denied their love because they had to conform to the norms of society. The first book, Love’s Forbidden Flower was a heartbreaking look at how forbidden love can destroy a person. Lily, always the strong one in this relationship, was willing to put it all on the line, live a lie and deny their sibling relationship, while Donovan was always being pressured by his mother and father to stay away from Lily or they would have him declared a pedophile. That book tore me up. The second book is just as touching. For such a taboo subject, it is handled with class. Lily and Donovan have moved on, they each have families, they each have children, they each have jobs that fulfill them. But when… Read more »
