A Surprise from Ilsa Madden-Mills

A Surprise from Ilsa Madden-Mills

Because Ilsa Madden-Mills fell in love with her beautifully flawed characters in Very Wicked Things, she penned Very Wicked Beginnings as a prequel novella to the book, featuring the story of football star Cuba Hudson and ballerina Dovey Beckham. Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, all May proceeds from the sale of the novella will be donated to The Keith Milano Memorial Fund which benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). www.afsp.org Very Wicked Beginnings Excerpt from Chapter One  “Two things about me: I play football—and girls.” –Cuba Hudson I wanted the gorgeous girl in the window. More specifically, I wanted the dark-haired girl dancing inside the Symthe Arts Building as I stood outside on the twenty yard line at football practice, fixated on her when I should have been focused on the line of scrimmage. I adjusted my helmet and squinted through the afternoon Dallas sun. Did I… Read more »

Tour Review: Make It a Double by Sawyer Bennett

Tour Review: Make It a Double by Sawyer Bennett

What a pleasant surprise this story was! This is the first book I’ve ever read by Sawyer Bennett and it certainly won’t be the last. While this is the second in the Last Call series, it can be read as a stand alone. I’m actually about to dive into book one because the characters in this series are incredibly real, charming, and sassy. I want to know them better! This book is about Brody Markham, a quiet and anti-social yet hot, alpha male who walks around with a chip on his shoulder. We find out early on that he was just released from prison for killing a man while driving under the influence. He carries an incredible amount of guilt and truly believes he’s worthless. At times he’s arrogant, pissed off at the world -usually at himself even more, and is a jerk to those closest to him. Scorned by… Read more »

FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: Signed Eversea and Forever Jack Paperbacks by Natasha Boyd

FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: Signed Eversea and Forever Jack Paperbacks by Natasha Boyd

This is another set of books I got at Indie girl Con to give away on the blog. I’ve never read these, but they were very popular and they have great reviews. Up for grabs tonight are both books in this series, Eversea and Forever Jack, signed by the author, Natasha Boyd. ************************* EXCERPT My cold hands found Jack’s warm, smooth skin. He tensed under my touch, his eyes now slate grey in the darkened hall. Jack’s hand came up to my face, and his thumb brushed over my lips like when my tongue had accidentally found him. This time he pushed it against my lips, seeking entry. I hesitated a split second before sucking him into my mouth to taste the tang of his skin. Jack’s breathing hitched as he fed it to me, sliding it in and out against my tongue. His mouth grew taut, his nostrils flaring… Read more »

Review: Emerge, Book 1 in the Evolve Series

Review: Emerge, Book 1 in the Evolve Series

Emerge, book one in S.E. Hall’s Evolve series, broke my heart and then slowly put the pieces back together. There may still be a few still missing, but I’m hopeful that book 2 will help mend those too. I’m late to this series and I’m kicking myself in the ass for not bumping this up to the top of my reading list. I have had this book in my Kindle library for months, MONTHS! What was I waiting for?  If you have it in your library, stop what you’re reading and start this series. You won’t be sorry. S. E. Hall has created a sweet and endearing book consisting of likeable characters who tell a story about love, friendship, loyalty and growing up. I connected with the characters immediately. Throughout the book, I felt like I was right there, experiencing each moment with the crew of characters. I channeled my… Read more »

REVIEW: Rock Chick by Kristen Ashley

REVIEW: Rock Chick by Kristen Ashley

REVIEW Indy Savage is a screw up, but I mean that in Lee Nightingale’s most “Isn’t-Indy-cute” sorta way. Oh. My. God. Why did I wait so long to read this book? I haven’t laughed so hard reading a book since Bridget Jones was locked in a Thai prison singing Like A Virgin in her Victoria’s Secret Wonderbra. This book made me laugh out loud, like guffaw out loud, really – more times than I could count. Kristen Ashley is a brilliant writer because she paints a scene in a book like an artist paints a picture. It helps that I have lived in the Denver Metro area for fifteen years, but I’m pretty sure I’d feel this way even if I wasn’t familiar with the city she was writing about. Indy is me. I’m a rock chick who never quite grew up even though all these grown up things sorta… Read more »
