REVIEW Division Zero is a special unit inside a futuristic police precinct where agent Kirsten Wren works hard taming wayward ghosts. This might lead you to believe this is a horror story, but it’s not. Not really. It’s definitely a cyberpunk-ish science fiction mystery that has plenty of noir elements to it. In addition to the horror elements, the mystery elements, and the science fiction elements, it’s also quite angsty. Kirsten has a dark past that she has been struggling to come to terms with ever since she was pulled from her mother’s care. Born a psyonic (someone with amazing mind posers who can not only read the thoughts of others, but also control matter to a certain extent) who saw ghosts and was raised under the care of a religious zealot of a mother, Kirsten’s entire childhood was filled with horrors. Her mother firmly beloved she was the product… Read more »

$25 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Intimidator by Cari Silverwood
EXCERPT No. Stom cleared his throat and backed her further under the shower then began soaping her. Amazing how he managed, even getting her to turn around so he could wash her hair and watching the water flow in rippling and twisting currents down her back. Willow’s muscles were heaven under his hands. Smoothing away the residues of soot on her pleased him immensely. It hit some spot inside him that made him know, yes, he was doing good. Her soft noises of pleasure made him have to stop once or twice to reassemble his brain, but he kept going. Clean her. Get her right. Make her a woman again and not some soot-covered succubus. Suck. The word in his mind made his cock twitch and his fingers dug into her shoulders. “Ow!” Willow flinched and spun around, almost slipping on the wet stone. Her full breasts jiggled, swayed. The… Read more »
RELEASE DAY EXCERPT: Trapped by Ella James
Purchase on Amazon Purchase on B&N EXCERPT I felt like the world had been ripped from underneath my feet. I was floating, weightless, like the steam that surrounded us, my only anchor Nick’s lips moving hard on mine. I kissed him back as hard as I could, my hands first on his broad shoulders, then his strong arms, and when I ran out of air I pulled back gasping. Nick was half an inch away, cradling my face between his hands and pressing kisses on my cheeks, my chin, my nose, my neck. Moving down my throat, heating me inside, and I was going to explode. My hands didn’t stay by my side. I just couldn’t keep them there. Neither could he. We didn’t hit the ball out of the park, but we definitely made it past first base. I remember thinking, as I kissed him, and he kissed me,… Read more »
REVIEW and GIVEAWAY: Across the Wire by Stella Telleria
REVIEW Across the Wire was a compelling science fiction read that turns the world we know upside down. Mia, a veteran soldier from the Iraq War, finds herself alone, afraid, and suffering from the after effects of combat, death, and loss when she happens upon a man in the backstreets of San Francisco getting mugged. She helps the stranger and before she knows it, she’s agreeing to help him train a band of potential freedom fighters. Her recruiter left out one small detail… this place isn’t on Earth. It’s a parallel universe in which Earth has become the social opposite of what it is now. Instead of men being in charge, the entire society is ruled by women. And it’s not pretty. The men are slaves, they have no rights, and only exist to perpetuate the status quo of the oppressive matriarchal society. Upon her arrival Mia meets an unlikely… Read more »
$50 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Shattered Veil by Tracy E. Banghart
REVIEW Shattered Veil was a total surprise and even though the book started out a little slow, it only got better and better as the story went on. By the end, I was totally invested in Aris and her relationship. OK, so this book is a new adult science fiction. That’s the perfect way to describe it too. This is absolutely a coming of age story told through the eyes of a girl who lives in a world that is technologically superior and not at all like our own. One thing that sets this book apart from some others that might be similar is the fact that it’s not a dystopian and it’s not post-apocalyptic. Things are not perfect in Aris’ world, but they are not truly repressive politically. Aris is a girl with a special talent – she’s a flyer. She can fly like nobody’s business. She comes from… Read more »
KINDLE GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Peaceful Genocide by JA Reynolds
Peaceful Genocide is a young adult dystopian-ish SF story that centers around two central teenage characters. Mitzi and Deuce. Mitzi is as damaged as they come, while Deuce is as normal and well-adjusted as a teen can possibly be. While Mitzi has been abused by pretty much everyone she ever trusted, Deuce has lived a life dictated by football. He’s a team player. Mitzi… is not. Deuce is practical… Mitzi is paranoid. Deuce is calm… Mitzi is emotional, relational, and angry. Deuce is open to working with people, sees the bright side, and genuinely tries his best to be the strongest link in the chain at all times. Mitzi… not so much. So Mitzi and Deuce, along with two other characters, Paisley and Ralph, both of whom are much younger than our hero and heroine, find themselves in a top tier, but secluded, research facility where they say tests are… Read more »

$25 GIVEAWAY and SERIES SPOTLIGHT: Beyond by Maureen Miller
REVIEW BEYOND by Maureen Miller This book was a nice surprise. Not only was it well written, but it kept me captivated the entire time. Miller’s writing flows easily through the story as she describes how Aimee, a young teenager from Earth must cope with the fact that she was just abducted from Earth and has no chance of returning for five years. Supposedly the “abduction” was a mistake caused by a young scientist who was on Earth to gather plant life that might be critical to the survival of his race. The aliens on the Guardian ship Horus, also human-like – and just let me stop here because I’ve seen a lot of readers say human-like aliens are a lack of imagination on the author’s part. But I have to disagree. As a scientist, the human body plan makes a lot of sense. Why wouldn’t it be duplicated? Anyway… Read more »
GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Carnelian by B. Kristin McMichael
Carnelian centers around Seth and Mari. They are meant to be together according got Seth, but Mari is not exactly falling for the cute guy just because he says that. Instead she overheads that she is to be number twenty-four on his list of conquests and decides to pass on his attempts to woo her, but that is easier said than done as Seth doesn’t plan to make it easy for her. Meeting Seth for the first time: I closed my book and looked up from under the maple canopy to the blue sky above. I had a normal life, but girls in books always went on adventures. I guess that was what going far off to college was to me, an adventure. My future was already planned, but I’d give anything to be one of those heroines. I wanted to live the life I found in these books. I… Read more »
