$20 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Collide by Melissa West

$20 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Collide by Melissa West

REVIEW After three books The taking finally has a conclusion! Ari and Jackson started out enemies in Gravity. Jackson had an almost unconscionable secret power over her and that was what drew me into this story in the first place. In Gravity Ari was very strong. Her father is the commander and she is his legacy in every way. Taught to fight since she was small, she is confident and powerful. Jackson is equally powerful… only we find out that he’s not what he seems. I admit, I rather enjoyed the personal connection these two had before they got together a little more than the after. I liked the idea of the Taking. It put normally strong Ari in a completely powerless situation. But once they got together much of that was sidelined for the plot. I loved how in book two, Hover, Ari was off her game and Jackson’s… Read more »

EPIC FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: JA Huss, CM Stunich, Penny Reid, Colleen Hoover, Abbi Glines, Jasinda Wilder

EPIC FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: JA Huss, CM Stunich, Penny Reid, Colleen Hoover, Abbi Glines, Jasinda Wilder

EXCERPT FROM 321  by JA Huss “I found her.” “We found her, asshole. A one-second headstart does not give you the right to call her yours. Because she’s ours, Ark. So you have two choices. Get in bed and be a part of it. Or take that camera and get the fuck out of our room.” “You’d choose her over me, just like that?” “I’m inviting you in. If you say no, don’t blame your loss on me.” “What if I don’t want to share her? What if I want her all to myself?” He shrugs. “Too late. She’s ours. She wants to be ours. She wants you and me. Deal with it or don’t. But it’s not going to change.” “I don’t want to sleep with you, JD.” “Yeah?” he laughs. “Well, since you’re standing in my room naked, with a hard-on, and holding a camera taking dirty pictures… Read more »

$20 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Love & Other Lies by Madeline Ash

$20 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Love & Other Lies by Madeline Ash

EXCERPT: Wednesday morning, Abby checked her watch as she hurried out of the bakery, paper bag in hand, ten minutes late for work. All Rue’s fault. If he would stop being seen around town – browsing the market, enquiring about nature walks, eating lunch with a healing Spindle in tow – everyone would leave her alone. But this was the third morning in a row that she’d been sidled up to and asked whether he’d persuaded her yet. These people seriously had no shame. She slid the change into her wallet and glanced up to see Rue leaning against her four-wheel drive, parallel parked on Main Street. She halted, stomach hitching. He was looking away, one ankle crossed over the other, hands in the pockets of those faded denim jeans. He wore sunglasses, the burnt brown lenses and thin gold rims working with the dishevelled hair to push him into… Read more »

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Vaughn and Grace

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Vaughn and Grace

My last Take 2! I wrote six EOBS’s for Social Media and some of them are epic. So I’m not going to rehash any of that stuff. You can read them in the novellas. But I do have one more thing to say about this series and it has to do with expectations. I try to meet expectations and not meet them at the same time. I want readers to know what they are getting into, especially with the first book in a series. But I think I’ve made a name for myself by writing the unexpected. Not many of my plot points are predictable, but if they are, you can bet I planned them that way. Taut has a predictable plot point. Until you read Guns and you realize it doesn’t. Follow had a predictable plot point as well. Until you read Profile and it’s doesn’t. Pretty much everything… Read more »

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit James and Harper

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit James and Harper

This series started out as a novella for The BEND Anthology with the seven other Erotica Consortium writers. If you’ve been reading me for a while, you know what happened. If you’re new, the book was banned by Amazon for violating “content guidelines”. Whatever that means. But regardless, my little contribution to that book was a very convoluted story that set up two new characters—James and Harper. Both James and Harper have secrets and in this first book you learn none of them. This probably drove some people to hate the story and stop reading, but that’s OK. I planned it that way. Because this was a series about assassins, shadow governments, and none of these people were “the good guys”. If the line between right and wrong was a bit blurred in Rook & Ronin, then this book has a clear line right down the middle and all of… Read more »

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Spencer and Veronica

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Spencer and Veronica

Spencer is in every single book in the Rook & Ronin series. He comes in late in Tragic, but boy does he make an impression. He scoops Rook up when she needs a friend, and just when you start to think this might turn into a triangle, Spencer Shrike does a 180. He’s not what he appears to be. But then again, that was the whole point of the series. Sometimes when I’m writing a later book in a series I recall a little detail in an earlier book that changes everything about the story. This happened with Spencer and Veronica in Bomb. That novella is supposed to be the first book about Spencer, but instead it introduced Veronica the Bombshell Bomb—Spencer’s long-time love-interest who has been dumped. In Bomb I start from the beginning and take you back in time to the day Spencer first saw Veronica on their… Read more »

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Ford and Ashleigh

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Ford and Ashleigh

Slack and Taut. Most people didn’t get the titles until a year later when I wrote about it in another End of Book Shit. But everything I do in a story has a purpose and these titles are no exception. Slack is Ford going off the rails as he tries to deal with Christmas Eve. He takes a few hits for his team, even for an outside affiliate from his teen years, called Merc. And he meets one of the most memorable characters I’ve ever written. The twelve-year-old La-Femme-Nikita-in-training, Sasha Cherlin. Slack is a deep book. It got a lot of mixed reviews when it came out because Ford was not a very likable guy in this book. He’s struggling with who he is, what he wants, and how he can get there. He’s not with a girlfriend, so it’s not really romantic. But he forges a new friendship with… Read more »

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Rook and Ronin

GIVEAWAY: End of Book Shit Rook and Ronin

This series changed my life. Tragic was my first book that broke the Amazon Top 500 in May of 2013 and I knew that was a game changer. People were buying my book! And not only that, they seemed to like it. Tragic was the first indication that I might be good at this writing stuff. I might just be able to find a place in this self-publishing world. I might have stories to tell that would inspire people. So when I finished Tragic, I paused to ask myself, “What do I like to read?” And I had no answer. I dunno. I just know it when I read it. But then I was sitting around watching TV one day and Ocean’s Eleven was on. And holy fuck, I just love that movie. So I asked myself, Why? What about that movie makes me love it? And my answer was—those… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: A Hot Winter by C.J. Lake

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: A Hot Winter by C.J. Lake

EXCERPT “All right, honest conversation,” she said after a moment that was quiet, but rife with tension. “Yes. I was flirting with you in the store–but only because I never thought I’d see you again.” “You never wanted to see me again?” He sounded somewhere between incredulous and insulted. “Damn, Emma!” “No, no,” she clarified, rapidly shaking her head, “this is coming out wrong. I just meant I thought you were a random handsome guy with a hot body, end of story.” Every male impulse in him intensified when he heard those words. Handsome? Hot body? This was definitely going to happen. “I never knew you’d end up working at my house…and driving me crazy everyday,” Emma mumbled partly under her breath. Still, Matt heard every word. And he was itching to grab her. He stepped closer–close enough for their bodies to touch. Finally. His cock stiffened as his chest… Read more »
