GIVEAWAY and INTERVIEW: Drowning by Rachel Firasek

GIVEAWAY and INTERVIEW: Drowning by Rachel Firasek

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre? Rachel: I’m  a thirty-ish Texas native  who corals two teens and husband that puts all of my heroes to shame. I have a sprawling spread of Mesquite trees and sheep in a hidden country community of Central Texas.  I’m a switch. Sometimes I like paranormal, horror, or just a sweet romance, but it’s always romance. When I stumbled upon NA Contemporary romances, I just knew I’d found a home. When and why did you begin writing? Rachel: I started writing when I was a teen, but lost time and interest in my early twenties. When I hit thirty I decided to dig back in and to try to make a go of this gig. When did you first consider yourself a writer? Rachel: A writer or an author? I’ve always been a… Read more »

Interview with Allison Merritt – Author of The Sky Pirate’s Wife

Interview with Allison Merritt – Author of The Sky Pirate’s Wife

I have Allison Merritt with me today at New Adult Addiction and she’s agreed to answer my blathering questions!  Her new book, The Sky Pirate’s Wife, is the first part of the Legends and Lovers series.  Thank you so much for being here, Allison. What kind of research did you have to do to bring this story to life on the page? I started getting really interested in myths and legends when I was in college. When I started writing the Legends and Lovers series I wasn’t thinking about American myths, because my characters leaned toward British heritages with the exception of a couple of the heroes. The first book was set in Australia, but because agents kept freaking out about the setting, saying they couldn’t sell that in America, I started doing research for Native American lore. It worked out really well because there are some great stories out… Read more »

Interview with Jeri Lynn Stone author of Shadow’s Justice

Interview with Jeri Lynn Stone author of Shadow’s Justice

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Jeri Lynn Stone, author of Shadow’s Justice. What kind of research did you have to do to bring this story to life on the page? On my Romantic Suspense novel, Shadow’s Justice, a story about Shadow’s father being unjustly accused, sentenced and executed for a murder he didn’t commit, I researched New Orleans, the swamp regions and the Louisiana court system. On my short story Tangle with Tara, I researched the New York City area and Law enforcement. When you start a new book, do you like to outline the entire story or fly by the seat of your pants? Oh, I’m definitely a Pantser. I do a short outline to develop my major scenes, plots and conflicts. Then, I do a Character Analysis to thoroughly develop all of my main characters. What about your characters? Do you figure them out entirely… Read more »

Interview with Deborah Brown – Author of Crazy in Paradise

ME:  I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Deborah Brown, author of Crazy in Paradise.  DEBORAH: Thank you, Julie, for this wonderful opportunity to share with your readers. What kind of research did you have to do to bring this story to life on the page? I owned an apartment building for several years and the tenants that came and went have all in a small way become fodder for my books.  Like the main character, Madison Westin, I had a penchant for renting to an eclectic group of misfits.    When you start a new book, do you like to outline the entire story or fly by the seat of your pants? Because I like to think of myself as an organized person, I gather together miscellaneous bits of paper, my tape recorder and notepads that I continuously scribble in and start my outline.  One liners about where… Read more »
