EXCERPT  FROM RANGE “That is enough!” Tier roars, pushing the chair aside as he stands. The crashing sound of his command, as well as the toppled chair, is enough to make me draw up my hands and wince as I stop talking mid-sentence. “If I have ta listen ta that filthy little mouth of yours for one more second, I’ll snap. Enough already. If you want to talk to me, you will do it with respect. I will not tolerate it.” I stare at him. Speechless. He stares back and waits. “What the—” “Choose carefully, Junco. I’m warning you.” His eyes blaze up with fire and… Read more »

I Love Book Banners

I Love Book Banners

Altered Carbon is the first book in my favorite series with the uber psycho futuristic soldier Takeshi Kovacs – so if RKM ever asked me to tour Altered Carbon, I’d make a banner like this for him.  I wonder if he’d like it? Maybe I’m alone in this but I absolutely love book banners. I think they are the best part of the blog tour. I love banners period, I think. There’s just something cool about having your book on a banner that matches your cover, but it just a little bit different.  When I decided to start a book blog I had already written three books and I was looking to tour them on book blogs. One year ago I had never even heard of a book blog. Seriously. But the more I looked at these really cool book banners for tours on these blogs, the more interested in… Read more »

The Sexy Dudes of BadAssJunco

The Sexy Dudes of BadAssJunco

JUNCO SAYS: There’s been a lot of talk around the blogosphere from the guys about who is my favorite dude, and instead of letting them fight it out in public, I’m gonna set the record straight. First let me introduce them to ya, so ya all know who’s who: Front and center we have Tier. Tier is a main character in CLUTCH, the first book in my series I Am Just Junco. I’m not so sure about his motives, but I certainly like to look at him. He’s tall, like a foot taller than me, with dark black hair that curls just the slightest bit as it falls over his blazing green eyes. And they do blaze, that’s for real. The glow in them is like a warm Sunday afternoon on the prairie. (Sorry, I get a little swoony just mentioning him.) Then there’s the wings. Magnificent charcoal-gray wings that… Read more »

Stacking the Shelves #3

Stacking the Shelves #3

This is my third week of Stacking the Shelves, which is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.  Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! This is a really great way to find new books and bloggers to watch and I can see myself doing this meme regularly…at least the weeks where I get new books.  If that turns out to be every week I might not have time to do anything BUT read!  This is TWO WEEKS worth of books because I didn’t do a post last week.  OK, here’s what I got: Both VAIN (TOUR stops here January 10!!!! YAY! – I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!) and… Read more »

How We Hate the Insta-Love, Smart-Ass, Cliché Romance

How We Hate the Insta-Love, Smart-Ass, Cliché Romance

Did it start with Twilight? Or was that just the first time we noticed it on such a big scale? I’ve seen a lot of hate over the insta-love in the reviews of other authors. I can relate to the frustrated reviewers because it’s hard to respect the insta-love some characters seem to have for one another these days. Ditto for pointless smart-ass dialog. My book series, I Am Just Junco, is not a romance, but there is a romantic sub-plot between the two main characters (Junco and Tier). When I set out to develop their relationship I only had three hard and fast rules: No insta-love No smart-ass comments unless the other character deserved it No pointless arguing just for the sake of cute one-liners In fact I went out of my way to make Tier careful – believe me when I tell you Junco deserves a little extra… Read more »

New Adult Books by J.A. Huss

I Am Just Junco Series CLUTCH – In 2152 the avian race is on Earth looking for something stolen from them decades ago – their genetics.  At the center of the search lies the Rural Republic; a small backwards farming country with high hopes of military domination and a penchant for illegal bioengineering. 19 year old Junco Coot is the daughter of the Rural Republic’s ranking commander. She’s the most foul-mouthed, wildly unpredictable and ruthless sniper the Rural Republic has ever trained.  But when her father’s death sparks a trip into forbidden places, she triggers events that will change everything she knows to be true. As an elite avian military officer, Tier’s mission is to destroy the bioengineering projects, kill Commander Coot’s daughter, and return home immediately. There’s just one problem. Junco isn’t who she claims to be. With no one to trust, not even herself, Junco must confront the… Read more »
