EXCERPT and COVER REVEAL: Dirty Angels by Karina Halle

EXCERPT and COVER REVEAL: Dirty Angels by Karina Halle

Excerpt There was a strange moment of silence and I concentrated hard, trying to hear more than the obvious. They were all waiting. Waiting for the order. Waiting for the man in charge to speak. He did. It came from the left of me. His voice was cool, calm and collected. I didn’t have to see to know who had taken me. The man I’d heard so much about. The man I’d been taught to fear. “Gentleman,” he said and I could almost feel his infamous eyes on my body, “remove the bag.” There was a rustle and my face was immediately met with cool air that seized my lungs and bright lights that blinded me. I scrunched up my face, afraid to look, to see. Now it was all so real and I wanted to stay in the dark. “Who did this?” Suddenly cool hands were at my swollen… Read more »

Twelve Days of DexMas: Karina Halle – Experiment in Terror Day One: DARKHOUSE

Twelve Days of DexMas: Karina Halle – Experiment in Terror Day One: DARKHOUSE

To see other stops on the tour for reviews, guest posts, and excerpts click here or the tour button above. REVIEW I read Darkhouse last year. In fact, Darkhouse was the very first five star review on New Adult Addiction.  Karina Halle was writing new adult way before it was popular and it all started with this series.  Perry and Dex are one of my favorite couples of all time. I laughed so many times in this book–but I was also a little scared because it’s a ghost story. Or, well, a series of ghost stories actually. It’s got some horror stuff in it but the characters are what really make these Experiment in Terror books shine. Perry and Dex are far from perfect. In fact, Perry has some real self-image problems (some realistic, some not), she’s not successful in her career, she’s been in trouble in the past, and… Read more »

Stacking the Shelves #3

Stacking the Shelves #3

This is my third week of Stacking the Shelves, which is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.  Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! This is a really great way to find new books and bloggers to watch and I can see myself doing this meme regularly…at least the weeks where I get new books.  If that turns out to be every week I might not have time to do anything BUT read!  This is TWO WEEKS worth of books because I didn’t do a post last week.  OK, here’s what I got: Both VAIN (TOUR stops here January 10!!!! YAY! – I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!) and… Read more »

REVIEW: The Benson By Karina Halle

REVIEW: The Benson By Karina Halle

Review of The Benson by Karina Halle An Experiment in Terror Novella (#2.5) This short story/novella sees amateur Youtube ghost-hunters, Perry Palomino and Dex Foray, investigating the real-life hauntings of Portland’s infamous Benson Hotel. It occurs between books #2 (Red Fox) and #3 (Dead Sky Morning) and is the perfect primer for anyone interested in the EIT series. REVIEW: The Benson is a quick short story that takes place between books two and three.  In this book Perry and Dex are at it again!  My favorite ghost-hunting  team are at the famous Benson Hotel in Portland.  If you follow my reviews at all you know I love this series – mostly I just love Perry.  I could just gush on and on about her in every review and this time I’d just like to say picturing her ass-end up head-first in a laundry basket almost made me pee my pants. … Read more »
