KINDLE GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Where Life Takes You by Claudia Y Burgoa

KINDLE GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Where Life Takes You by Claudia Y Burgoa

EXCERPT I drenched the pancakes with maple syrup, took a bite, and moaned. “Amazingly good! I’m impressed. You dominate the kitchen like it’s your boardroom. Who taught you how to cook? Dan poured orange juice for us both, as well as a cup of coffee for him, and a glass of milk for me. He sat next to me, covered his own pancakes cautiously—not Becca style—cut a piece of pancake, and ate it. “Hmm. They are good, but they don’t seem to affect me the way they do you.” He chuckled. I awaited his answer curiously. “My last foster family.” He’d gone through more than one foster home? “My foster mother taught her surrogate children to fend for themselves. Our chores included cleaning, cooking, and washing dishes and clothes. No, she didn’t want cheap labor. She did it to teach us how a normal house hold functioned, and to care… Read more »

$25 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: No Apologies by Sybil Bartel

$25 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: No Apologies by Sybil Bartel

EXCERPT My perception of Carly was sweet and innocent and fragile. She was those things, but she was a whole lot more. And fuck if it wasn’t a total turn-on. Watching her ride today, with easy confidence, I got the impression she could do anything. She looked so fucking capable on that bike, like she’d been absent the day they dished out limitations and fears. I was almost intimidated by her. Worse, I liked her more every minute I spent with her. I pulled up to the restaurant, we walked in and grabbed a booth without speaking. Carly picked up the menu but was looking at me. “You’re quiet.” “I’m always quiet.” “No, you’re thinking about something. Spill it.” Why the fuck did I promise myself I’d be honest with her? “Why are you single?” “Being a cop’s daughter isn’t conducive to dating.” Yeah, not it. “He wasn’t that intimidating…. FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: Signed Copy of Better When He’s Bad by Jay Crownover

FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: Signed Copy of Better When He’s Bad by Jay Crownover

UP FOR GRABS TONIGHT is the first book from last weekend’s Emerald City Author Event! That was a fantastic signing. It was so great to meet a bunch of new people and one of them is JAY CROWNOVER who just happens to live very close to me! We are joking that we need to start a Colorado author mafia! I’m so in! The signed book I’m giving away for this week’s Friday Night Freebie is BETTER WHEN HE’S BAD! I’m about halfway through this right now and I’m LOVING SHANE “BAX” BAXTER! He is one BAD BOY! Which begs the question, how bad is too bad? Bax is pretty bad, he’s a thief. But you know… once you get a glimpse of a bad boy’s gooey inside, you sorta lose all rational thought. And that’s just the smoldering looks he shoots, don’t even get me started once the hotness takes… Read more »

FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: Signed copy of Stripped by Jasinda Wilder

I’m off to Seattle in a few hours for the Emerald City Author Event, so I’m posting the Friday Night Freebie early.  By the way, The Archer’s Voice prize has not been claimed, so check the RC on last week’s FNF to see if that’s you. If I do not hear from the winner by Monday, I will choose a new one. This week’s prize is a signed copy of STRIPPED by Jasinda Wilder.  I picked this up at the Cleveland event a while back. That’s one cool thing about being a signing author – we get to buy books before it starts!    So this week’s RC comment question is: Which books do you want me to pick up in Seattle?  Here’s a list of the signing authors, tell me what you want! Annie Walls AO Peart Carmen Jenner Chanda Hahn Cherise Sinclair Denise Grover Swank EK Blair Elizabeth… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: State of Pursuit by Summer Lane

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: State of Pursuit by Summer Lane

EXCERPT Here’s the thing that nobody tells you about being in love: It’s hard. Anything good in life takes work, and lately, a lot of blood, sweat and tears. My relationship with Chris Young has always been defined not just by mutual attraction, but by the fact that we were brought together in the middle of a post-apocalyptic warzone. Flowers and dinner dates? Never had those. Firefights and battle fatigue? That’s more like it. Wartime hardship has always been the dominating factor in our romance. It’s what brought us together, it’s what’s kept us together, and now…it’s what has torn us apart. Being separated from Chris is more difficult for me than being separated from my father. Because through everything, Chris has been the one that has kept my feet on the ground. He’s been the one to protect me, train me, and teach me how to survive. The fact… Read more »

Tour Review: Love in All the Wrong Places by Audrey Harte

Tour Review: Love in All the Wrong Places by Audrey Harte

Why aren’t people reading this book??? OK, so I’ve been meaning to read this book for ages now. I had the great pleasure of meeting Audrey, twice, and always told her I’d read her book(s), but one thing led to another and hers just kept getting pushed back. So when her tour came around, I immediately signed up and I’m so glad I FINALLY read this book. Love in All the Wrong Places is cute, charming, witty, and realistic. I found myself getting giddy along with main character Annie as she navigates her way through craigslist online dating. First, after all those creepy Lifetime movies, do people actually check craigslist for dates? I’m thinking yes, and Annie Chang has her hands full as she weeds through the chaos and crap of online dating. Throughout the story you meet three potential loves for Annie. Each one gets better than the previous… Read more »

Review: Very Wicked Things

Review: Very Wicked Things

Ok, I read Very Bad Things, book one in this series and loved it. I read it almost a year and half ago and I still remember the characters and plot. That tells me it was really good in my book. I was so excited to read this next book that I bumped it up my very LONG TBR list and it didn’t disappoint. You know you’re reading a good book when you can’t put it down and when you HAVE to, you’re counting the minutes until you can pick it back up. That was this book for me. I became a part of the Briarcrest world and I felt like I was living and breathing Dovey and Cuba’s relationship. It’s hard to categorize this book because there’s a lot that takes place in the pages. There’s angst, of god is there ANGST! Ilsa is a master writer of angst…. Read more »

$50 GIVEAWAY and TEASER: Perfect Opposite by Zoya Tessi

$50 GIVEAWAY and TEASER: Perfect Opposite by Zoya Tessi

“Let go of me… right now.” I hissed
“I’m no good at following orders. Maybe you should try asking. Nicely.” “Hah! In your dreams!”
“OK. As far as I’m concerned, we can stay like this till tomorrow…” It didn’t cross my mind to reply, so I immediately began flailing around, doing my best to get free of his arms, but it was no use. He didn’t budge an inch and held me like I weighed nothing at all. Figuring out there was nothing I could possibly do to wrestle free, I let out a groan and sunk my teeth into his shoulder, biting down hard. “You crazy bitch!” he barked and threw me down on the bed below, making me bounce twice. I had a feeling that I wouldn’t come out of it well if he got his hands on me, so I clambered over to the other side of the… Read more »
