REVIEW Inner Fire was an interesting concept. What if a genetic disorder caused a girl to get so hot, she can not only burn herself, but others too? Intriguing. Corrine was dealt an unfortunate hand at birth. She views her ability as a handicap or a curse, but her gran, who also has the same condition, sees it as a strength. There is a subplot in this book that deals with how London has cameras everywhere. This is actually true and I found all that very interesting, however I don’t think it was well-developed. I never quite made all the connections that seem to be promised in the beginning. There is a lot of action in this book and while I usually like that, some of it wasn’t the exciting kind. I did enjoy Corrine’s backstory a lot. I loved how the author weaved in true life events in New… Read more »

$50 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Play of Light by Debra Doxer
REVIEW Play of Light is an almost sweet new adult romance with some mystery and suspense elements. The two main characters, Sarah and Spencer, meet as young kids. Sarah was just twelve and Spencer was fourteen. There was an instant connection between them, but two years is a pretty insurmountable age difference when you’re so young. Sarah spent her most of her life with a strange infatuation with this boy. She even has a few what-if daydreams about meeting him and talking to him. Which totally reminded me of being so young because that’s what you do. You make up all these crazy fantasies about how you’d meet. Or how he’d be sorry for not talking to you. Or, if you’re Kristi here on the blog, certain other things that we can’t talk about outside the street team. 😉 I really thought the memory trip stuff with Sarah was cute… Read more »
$25 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Division Zero by Matthew S. Cox
REVIEW Division Zero is a special unit inside a futuristic police precinct where agent Kirsten Wren works hard taming wayward ghosts. This might lead you to believe this is a horror story, but it’s not. Not really. It’s definitely a cyberpunk-ish science fiction mystery that has plenty of noir elements to it. In addition to the horror elements, the mystery elements, and the science fiction elements, it’s also quite angsty. Kirsten has a dark past that she has been struggling to come to terms with ever since she was pulled from her mother’s care. Born a psyonic (someone with amazing mind posers who can not only read the thoughts of others, but also control matter to a certain extent) who saw ghosts and was raised under the care of a religious zealot of a mother, Kirsten’s entire childhood was filled with horrors. Her mother firmly beloved she was the product… Read more »
Tour Review: Picture Perfect by Elisabeth Grace
Picture Perfect was damn near perfect. It was exactly what I was looking for when I started reading it. It’s not too deep, but it draws you in with the first chapter and makes you not want to put it down once you start. This kind of book is my favorite… the kind where I’m smiling while reading and not realizing it until the hubs notices and says, “Good book?”. Picture Perfect is the second in the Limelight series, and the first book I read from this author, so you can read this as a standalone without confusion. Recently single Skye (daughter of a big-time mayor and possible candidate for Senate) finally goes out on a girls night with her friend to forget about her ex-boyfriend and is ready to start her next chapter in her life, beginning with her new career as assistant at a up and coming PR… Read more »

REVIEW and GIVEAWAY: The Warrior by Victoria Scott (Dante Walker Series)
REVIEW Dante walker. Oh, how I love thee. You are an arrogant asshole, you are a demon at heart, you are the epitome of what every mother warns her daughters about. And that’s why I love you so much! You are perfectly flawed. You have a heart of gold. You are loyal and smart, and handsome, and willing to see beyond the superficial. Of course you have not always been like this. But even back in book one, I loved you. I loved your hysterical one-liners and your charm. Yes, you are charming. But I like this new Dante too. I like the fact that you’ve grown into an adult. A man, if you will. A man who has his priorities straight. Who is willing to let go of old preconceived notions and give in to what everyone around you have known for a long time. You are good. Victoria… Read more »

Tour Review: Make It a Double by Sawyer Bennett
What a pleasant surprise this story was! This is the first book I’ve ever read by Sawyer Bennett and it certainly won’t be the last. While this is the second in the Last Call series, it can be read as a stand alone. I’m actually about to dive into book one because the characters in this series are incredibly real, charming, and sassy. I want to know them better! This book is about Brody Markham, a quiet and anti-social yet hot, alpha male who walks around with a chip on his shoulder. We find out early on that he was just released from prison for killing a man while driving under the influence. He carries an incredible amount of guilt and truly believes he’s worthless. At times he’s arrogant, pissed off at the world -usually at himself even more, and is a jerk to those closest to him. Scorned by… Read more »
$25 GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Fragile Line by Brooklyn Skye
REVIEW Fragile Line was a really good book. I’ve seen this author’s books around but this is the first one I’ve picked up. First of all, some things I noticed in this PDF edition that I appreciate enough to point out in a review… I love that the PDF format was “book size” and I love that the description was in the front of the book so I knew what it was about when it came time to read it. Just little things I notice and make a difference to me personally. I’ve read some of the reviews. I do that after I finish to see if I agree with what other people are saying and in this case, yeah, no. I don’t agree with most of them. This book was not billed as romance as far as I can tell. Which is just fine with me, that’s not why… Read more »
