New Blog…

The new adult genre is braking out as you read this article!  It’s hot, it’s fun, and it’s got all the stuff you wish your favorite young adult novels had, but can’t due to, well, the simple fact that they’re geared for those under eighteen.
In the past, Big Six publishers weren’t interested in books with main characters that were over the age of eighteen because that was clearly out of bounds for the young adult market.  And they weren’t very interested in books about characters younger than 25, because that was…well, who knows why.  Only them, I suppose.
But it turns out that new adults really are interested in reading about characters their own age.  Go figure.
New adult, as defined, deals with main characters who are eighteen or older, or at the very least, out of high school.  Many deal with college as a substitute, but the books we’re interested in here at New Adult Addiction deal with new adults in the paranormal, fantasy, science fiction, or urban fantasy genres.
Some of the top book blockbusters these days are new adult:
Beautiful Disaster by Jaime McGuire
Easy by Tammara Webber
Something Like Normal by Trish Doller
These are the top three books on the new adult shelves over at Goodreads.  All of these books are contemporary fiction, and in fact, the romance genre dominates most of the list.
The goal of New Adult Addiction is to give a place for authors to show off their books and a place for readers to find them.
Welcome to my new website.  And if you’re looking for a science fiction thriller with a smart and sassy new adult character, give my new series, I Am Just Junco (Clutch, Fledge, Flight) a try!
