Stacking the Shelves #7

April 6, 2013 Uncategorized 16

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.  Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

It’s actually only been a couple of weeks since I did STS, so I don’t have that many books this time. I made a huge dent in my reading list, but of course, I just seem to find more books to love. This week I was on a Shatter Me kick…(I actually won Shatter me from Giselle at Xpresso Reads in her new year contest, so I finally found time to read it and I’m hooked!)

OK, so anyway – I read the first one, haven’t reviewed it yet, and the last line of that book (not the epilogue, but the actual last chapter) was so awesome! I had no idea where this book was going, but the place where it went was so stinkin’ cool! :)  I read the 1.5 from Warner’s POV and I think I like Warner better than Adam…oops! I have not yet bought Unravel Me, but I want to and will do that as soon as I have some time.  EDIT: I broke down and bought Unravel me last night – I love Warner….

I got these three books for review as ARC’s.  I’ve already read If I Fall by Anna Cruise and loved it.  I’ll probably review it later today or tomorrow, as soon as it goes live on Amazon. I actually have a lot to say about it because it has a quite a bit of drugs and sex in it for a YA book, but Anna Cruise does an excellent job at handling the situation.  I take a lot of heat from other authors because of my views on YA books and drugs, but I don’t care.  If they don’t want opinionated parents reviewing their books, don’t freaking write stories for kids with a pro-drug message. If you write a YA book and glorify drugs, I’m gonna call you out.   Wrecked and The Forgotten Ones are both upcoming tour stops on NAA.

I got Coexist by Julia Crane and Reveal by Brina Courtney free on Amazon this week, and I bought Awaken by Sarah M. Ross for myself.

I finally broke down and bought Black City – I was holding out because the publisher’s price was too high.  I refuse to pay $12 for an ebook.  Screw that.  So I ended up with the hardback and I’ll give it away in a contest later in the year and save someone else from having to pay that ridiculous price.  I haven’t read it yet, so hopefully it is worth all this bitching and moaning, or else I’ll be pissed! :)  I got The Hunt hoping my son would pick it up at some point, but he’s resisting, so I doubt he will.  I’ll probably read it though.  I’ve started it and it sounds good, I’ve just had too many books to read lately.

Well, that’s pretty much it for me as far as new books go. See ya next time!  :)

I’m currently reading The Hunt right now, I’ve only just started this evening so I haven’t got far yet, but it does look good though!!

Yeah, I think it will be good, June. I could probably knock it out tonight, maybe I’ll read it too, then we can compare reviews next week! :)

I hope Black City doesn’t suck too, I still need to read my copy that I got at Christmas. I LOVE the covers for the Shatter Me series, i’ve only read the first one so far. I can’t really remember it so I’ll have to reread that one before moving on to the others.

    Happy Reading :)

I broke down and bought it last night…Ummm…I LOVE WARNER! LOL…he’s my new book boyfriend! I’m about half-way through now and I have to finish a book for tomorrow and do my taxes today, so I’m not sure when I’ll get back to it, but hopefully soon!

I honestly could NOT finish The Hunt… but perhaps you will be able to. I just recently got Unravel Me! Ahhh!!! I have an ARC of Black City, but I still need to read it. UGH. So many books! But you gotta love having a giant stack 😀
