DESCRIPTION

I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.
I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I’ve poured my soul into my music, but I’ve never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.
And now I’m going back.
After ten years.
I hope I can explain that after all this time.
I still want her to be my forever girl.

REVIEW

Ah, Forever My Girl makes me want to squeal, that’s how romantic it was.  The whole set up is sad, sexy, and sweet all at the same time. On the one hand, an entire community is mourning the loss of a really great guy – father, husband, and friend – Mason Powell, who was killed in a car accident.  He’s leaving behind the once perfect family, his wife Katelyn and two daughters.  Jojo, Katelyn’s long-time friend is on charge of the flowers for the funeral because she’s the local florist. So it has a really sad set-up.
Liam Westbury, AKA, Liam Page – Rockstar! – was Mason’s best friend in high school and is devastated when he hears the news.  He goes back home to pay his respects but he gets a shocker when he realizes the girl he left behind ten years ago was pregnant with his child.  A child he is now very interested in getting to know better.
I loved this story.  All the characters, with the exception of JoJo’s boyfriend, Nick, are sensible and mature. There’s no high school drama or stupid fighting or anything like that.  For once.  It was nice to just read the story without the over the top hype.  And Nick, in his defense, was just trying to hold on to what was his before Liam came back to town.
But love has a funny way of upsetting the apple cart, and Liam and Jojo are still very much attracted to each other.  What unfolds is a sweet peek inside the rekindling of a long lost relationship. A do-over.
Liam Westbury wants a do-over. He understands what he gave up when he left Jojo to pursue his music, and there’s nothing he regrets more.  One thing I noticed was how well Heidi Mclaughlin split the characterization between Liam Westbury and Liam Page because honestly, after getting to know Westbury, it was uncomfortable to be around Page the rock god.  It was very strange to think of them as the same person and that kind of surprised me.
The family dynamics will definitely pull on your heart strings.  From Mason’s now fatherless girls to Liam’s first few encounters with his ten year old son, that was one part of the story I really enjoyed.
The second book in this series follows two of the side characters in this story, but I won’t say who so it doesn’t spoil your read of Forever My Girl, because even if you don’t win, you should pick this one up!

My grandma once told me that I can do anything I want, so I am.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I now live in picturesque Vermont, with my husband and two daughters. Also renting space in our home is an overhyper Beagle/Jack Russell and two Parakeets.

During the day you’ll find me behind a desk talking about Land Use. At night, I’m writing one of the many stories I plan to release or sitting courtside during either daughter’s basketball games.

I’m also an active reviewer on The Readiacs – a site I own with my best friend and uber special beta, Yvette.

Thank you for the giveaway. I’ve been happily married for 20 years, so it’s hard to even think about someone else. The closest I came to being with someone else ‘forever’ was my high school boyfriend. 2 years was long enough for me to be serious and exclusive with him, and I just wanted the chance to be on my own. He went and found someone else to be with forever, so I moved on too.

I’ve had a love that got away. Funny thing is that he is still single and I am happily married. Thanks for the giveaway!

My love that got away passed away, so I don’t really think he “got away” as much as I feel we were cheated. The world was cheated from his brilliant light much too soon!
