Songs of Submission
Genres: Erotic Romance
Take my hand, my love.
On sinews of air we tread
Aught but distance our guide
With no tempo to our gait
No endpoint drawn
Neither plot nor plan
By the thorns of a compass rose
We bound toward the horizon
I have so much to say about this series, I’m not even sure where to start but I think it has to begin with synchronicity. I hardly ever mention myself on this blog unless I have a new release, and I rarely bring up my books in a review. But this time I have to. Because I picked up this series after only hearing about it once. How many times have you ever done that? And for erotica, no less. I’ve read a lot of erotica–I call it research. 😉
Seriously. So I’ve read all the big names in erotica because I write some sexy stuff myself. But I figured I had done enough research about a year ago and stopped reading it. CJ Roberts was really the last erotica I read–and I LOVE that series. Well, CD Reiss is just as good a storyteller as CJ.
But anyway, back to me… So I’m cruising through the MMM Book Club on Facebook and I stumble across one post. This post about BEG, the first book in this series. This was a while back–maybe June or July. So I see this one lonely post about Beg and for some reason, even though I’m not in the BDSM scene as far as books go and I’m off the erotica, I buy it.
Just bam. One-click.
And I one-click a bunch of stuff and most of the time it sits on my Kindle until I’m bored with whatever is on my current TBR list. But this book I not only bought without even reading the blurb, but I read it that night. And holy shit, this isn’t really erotica. I mean, IT IS, believe me– the sex is fucking hot. And there’s a lot of it. But there’s such a soulful story of struggle, and love, and disappointment–it almost supersedes the genre.
So I read it, and I love it, but I don’t get the second one because I had way too many books I needed to read for the blog. And then… a couple weeks later I get this fan on my author page and she says she read my book because CD Reiss talked about me in an interview. I was like wait–that name sounds familiar. So I go check my Kindle and yeah–that’s the freaking erotica book I read a few weeks ago. So i love Fate. All my books have Fate in them. I see fate everywhere. So to me, this is fate. I pick up book two, Tease, and the next thing I know I’m fucking jonsen for Book SEVEN! I mean, that’s how fast I tore through these books.
Yes, this is erotica. YES, some of it is hardcore – to me, anyway. Because remember, I’m not really into it. But man, this is such a good story. And CD Reiss can tell it. I told her, if there’s such a thing as high-brow erotica, you’re writing it. I loved it.
Anyway–that’s my long and weird story about how I came to know these books and CD Reiss. And when I told her I wanted to give her the Friday Night Freebie spot tonight, she offered up a signed paperback of your choice of her books and some swag. And I’m gonna sweeten the pot and throw in Songs of Submission Sequence One – the first three books – on eBook so you can start it sooner.
OK, I’m done. Go enter!

About CD Reiss

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles.
Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

I think I started reading erotica when I was about 16-17. I was really into these stories on a website called Literotica (I think?) and then I’ve just started getting into the New Adult genre.
