I sorta loved this book. I do not read a lot of erotica, and I’ve only ever read two SF erotic romances, but I like them! I love SF anyway, and when you mix it up with erotica, damn. That is just ORIGINAL!

I have not read the other books in this series, so some of the nuances of the history of the characters was lost on me, but overall, I got the gist of things and it was not confusing. Jess is a girl with a past—a pretty bad one in fact. She’s good now, but she has a major aversion to aliens. She was on earth when the invasion took place and she was captured an sold into sexual slavery. This is all back story, so it dictates her frame of mind as she accepts a position on Sonis as a personal assistant to Rasha, a captain in the Sonis Royal Guard.

Jess is a little rough. She’s a hard-ass, she does not take shit from anyone, and she’s ready to pull that blaster out without a second though. She was a little bit too “hot” for me, hot as in angry, but I get it. She’s overcome a lot and needs to protect herself any way she can. And part of her backstory is that she was subjected to a pheromone in the brothel that made her want sex. It made her do things that she would never entertain the thought of doing without being forced. So this revelation was a major factor into Jess’ inner psyche.

Rasha is like a total man-whore! But on Sonis, this is the norm. You see the birthrate is deteriorating fast and without human women to help this race of aliens recreate, they are doomed to extinction. Rasha wanted Jess specifically to be his “persona; assistant” but he’s got more than filing and phone calls on his mind! Rasha is the ultimate caring alpha male. He’s sexy and seductive, yes. But he also cares about Jess and wants to make her whole again. He is patient but firm when necessary and before she knows it, Jess is in a totally hot sexual relationship with an alien who wants to possess her, sooth her, and rock her world.

But Rasha is not as smooth as he thinks! In fact, he’s sorta clueless about how Jess feels, so it takes a little time to sort through their misunderstandings. Also, Rasha has a jealous girlfriend—or whatever she is. He’s pretty much using her for sex until Jess comes along, then he dumps her. Needless to say, this does not sit well with the ex, and she causes problems. It added a little conflict to the plot.

I really enjoyed it, the writing flowed, the world building was pretty good, and the main characters were well-developed. If you like a sexy story and you’ve never tried a SF erotic romance, then this might be your book to give it a try.
