According to Hayley love is a subject of ridicule, a myth created by hopeless romantics.
When Hayley makes a resolution to declare her loose lifestyle era R.I.P, it’s all good in theory…
That is until she meets Daniel Stark, a well-respected, mid-thirties business man who is known for his short temper, lack of steady relationships as well as his strict preserve of his private life.
Opinionated, sharp tongued Hayley accidently steps into his office leaving Daniel resolved to put Hayley in her place and have her in his bed.
Both Hayley and Daniel can’t avoid the immediate instigation of the attraction between them.
In a unanimously agreed upon verdict by Hayley and her two best friends, Ian the gay self-absorb, aspiring model and Natasha the witty, borderline neurotic soul mate, Daniel Stark is to be Hayley’s pure physical attraction, emotions aside era closure.
Will it indeed be a closure, or a beginning to something neither Hayley nor Daniel ever bargained for…

REVIEW:
Layers is an adult romance with Hayley, forced into applying for an internship after losing a bet. And Daniel, Mr. Stark, the billionaire owner of the company where said bet is carried through to the end. I found the beginning to be a little too fast. I did enjoy this book, and the characters were well developed, but the actual relationship really wasn’t. I didn’t really like Daniel. He treated his employees pretty bad, and although he was sweet with Hayley, it was very Jekyll and Hyde. Even Hayley mentions this, so it was on purpose. Even though he had a good explanation for why he was so aloof, I just didn’t connect with him all that much until the very end.
The pacing was good and there was a lot going on in the book. One thing in particular was the running internal monologue in Hayley’s head. I really don’t mind that, but it threw me out of the story the way it was done. It might’ve just been the italics, and I hate to say that. I’m not an italics hater at all. But it was so common so see the flow broken up with those italics, it threw me.
Hayley was a smart and feisty heroine who was just reluctant enough to put up with Daniel’s shit to be strong. She did give in to him, and wow, I really felt for her the first time they were actually together. She’s got a reputation for being sorta easy in the sex department and she says she doesn’t do relationships, but she gives in when he asks, and yeah. She feels pretty used by the time that encounter is all said and done. But then the next day, Daniel is back with gifts and another request for a date, and of course, she gives in. There’s no book if she doesn’t give in, but I like it when the hero has his ass handed to him at the appropriate time. And while Hayley’s internal thoughts were right on the money as far as that goes (she and I were thinking the same things most of the time), she didn’t put up much of a fight.
Right at the end we get to see more of Daniel and this is fantastic. I’m on the blog tour for book two, so I’m looking forward to that because I think Daniel has a little more psycho to him that he lets on in this book.
