Last weekend I was at Indie Girl Con with a bunch of friends from my author group, Indie Inked. While I was there I grabbed a bunch of signed books to give away on the blog and this week I’m offering up a set of signed Blow Hole Boys books from the lovely Tabatha Vargo. The first book in the series is Playing Patience, then a novella, that is really long – it’s 250+ pages, so hardly a novella, called Perfecting Patience, and another novel called Finding Faith. I loved Playing Patience. It was a great new adult rocker book with plenty of angst and darkness, just how we like those NA books, right? 😉 a Rafflecopter giveaway About Tabatha Vargo Tabatha’s been writing since she could pick up a pencil. Her first publication was a little poem in her elementary school paper, from that point on she was hooked…. Read more »

KINDLE GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Peaceful Genocide by JA Reynolds
Peaceful Genocide is a young adult dystopian-ish SF story that centers around two central teenage characters. Mitzi and Deuce. Mitzi is as damaged as they come, while Deuce is as normal and well-adjusted as a teen can possibly be. While Mitzi has been abused by pretty much everyone she ever trusted, Deuce has lived a life dictated by football. He’s a team player. Mitzi… is not. Deuce is practical… Mitzi is paranoid. Deuce is calm… Mitzi is emotional, relational, and angry. Deuce is open to working with people, sees the bright side, and genuinely tries his best to be the strongest link in the chain at all times. Mitzi… not so much. So Mitzi and Deuce, along with two other characters, Paisley and Ralph, both of whom are much younger than our hero and heroine, find themselves in a top tier, but secluded, research facility where they say tests are… Read more »
REVIEW: Every Second with You
I enjoyed getting to know Trey and Harley in The Thrill of It. Their circumstances were refreshing and interesting. If you haven’t read the The Thrill of It, book one; please do not read any further as there may be spoilers. Book one ends and leaves you with wondering whether or not Harley is indeed pregnant, and if she is, how it is going to impact not only her new life, but also the life of her boyfriend, Trey. A baby just may destroy him and set him up for a relapse in the addiction he’s been fighting to overcome. I think that this story could have gone in several different directions, taking the reader on a journey of emotional chaos. I am so glad the author decided against the roller coaster ride of what-ifs, assumptions, and could of beens. I hate when the twist in a book was based… Read more »
FRIDAY NIGHT FREEBIE: The BOMB of all Giveaways!
EDIT: I’m posting this early this week because I’m out of town for Indie Girl Con and I don’t want to rely on scheduling to make sure the contest runs properly. Ends Sunday at Midnight MST. Tonight is the last giveaway for my new release BOMB: A Day in the Life of Spencer Shrike, so I’m really gonna make it count! This prize is huge, and since it’s so big I do have a mandatory entry. I don’t usually do the mandatory entry, but I figure I’m justified for this one. But just so we’re all on the same page, I’m gonna explain why I’m asking you do to this. If you have a Facebook page, not a personal page, but a book blog page or some other type of “business or community” page, you know Facebook has pretty much stolen all your “LIKES” right out from under you…. $10 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: RecruitZ by Karice Bolton
“One-Mississippi-two…” Gavin’s words wrapped around me. I prayed silently to the same God I’d prayed to many nights before. He listened then and I hoped he’d listen now. I grabbed two knives that were in the kit and flipped the blades open, locking them in place. The anodized orange handles were larger than the actual blades. Not comforting. I handed one to Gavin. “There’s still a Louisville Slugger on the floor behind us,” Gavin said. His brown hair was cut short. That was one of the first things he did after we were vaccinated. A haircut and a shave to celebrate our survival. He still looked young but not as young as we both did before the outbreak. I slid toward the center console, crawling as far from the passenger window as I could get. Gavin’s breathing was heavy, and I felt the heat rolling off him as he continued… Read more »
Throwback Review of The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely
Here’s a THROWBACK review of The Thrill of It, Book 1 in the No Regrets series. This is a new adult story about trying to understand love when you feel like you don’t deserve it, it’s about trying to be able to differentiate between lust and love. Meet Harley, a young college student who was raised in NYC by her successful journalist mother, who wanted and treated her as a friend, not a daughter. The dynamic between Harley and her mom is so intriguing. My heart broke for this sweet girl who only wanted to feel loved. Harley is beautiful, she’s quiet and shy, she’s smart and creative, she’s also a high class call girl, oh yeah, and a virgin. Yes, a virgin. No one believes that she’s still a virgin, especially the person blackmailing her into writing her story. Nice twist? I thought so! Meet Trey, a hot college… Read more »
$100 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Lost in Us by Layla Hagen
EXCERPT My heart throbs against my ribcage as I put one palm on his chest and then the other, not quite meeting his eyes, gazing at the top button of his shirt instead. His heart drums under my fingers, with a lightning-quick rhythm that matches my own. I bite my lip and close my eyes. Somehow, I think I will find the courage I seek easier, if I let the darkness behind my eyelids guide me, instead of the image of him. I take a deep breath—his intoxicating ocean and musk scent filling me. The skin on my fingers prickles, as I slide my fingers upward, touching the warm skin on his neck. Now that my eyes are closed, all my other senses are awake, ravaging me. I lean into him slowly, very slowly. I wish he’d take mercy on me and take the lead, because kissing him seems to… Read more »
$10 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: BOMB: A Day in the Life of Spencer Shrike by J.A. Huss
Rook and Ronin Books TRAGIC MANIC PANIC SLACK TAUT BOMB GUNS Coming 3-31-14 TAUT and SLACK can be read as standalones. “Why are you following me?” she stops and asks in a huff, her foot stomping on the polished concrete floors. “I’m going to class. I’m not following you.” She looks over at me and scowls. “You have class here in this building at seven AM? Not likely. There’s only one class in here and it’s by invitation only,” she says with an air of superiority as she begins walking again. I walk again too, then smile at her when she checks to see if I’m still following. “I’ve been invited, don’t worry.” This makes her stop and whirl around to face me. “You’re in my class?” “I am,” I say smugly. “I’m a transfer from DU. I major in business, but I take art on the side.” “Oh.” She… Read more »
REVIEW of Be With Me by J.Lynn
Wait for You was one of my top reads last year, so needless to say, I was excited to read Be with Me. While Lynn’s new book certainly didn’t disappoint, I have to be honest and say it was not nearly as enticing as Wait for You. That said I am still a huge fan and was happy that I took the time to read and enjoy it. This book tells the story of Teresa Hamilton, the younger sister of Wait for You’s leading man, Cam. A year ago she shared a steamy, crush-inducing kiss with Cam’s best friend, Jase, solidifying her feelings for this older boy. Unfortunately for her, Teresa’s dreams and life drastically change over the course of several years leaving her on a different path than she originally chose; she finds herself enrolled at the college her brother attends. At first, I thought Teresa was going to… Read more »
