Crave is the first book I read by Violet Vaughn and I really enjoyed it. The premise is new to me and I like the idea of the story… A young woman looking for her ideal man, but realizing she has love right in front of her from the beginning.
The story starts out really strong and hot. The chemistry and the ease of Jason and Casey’s relationship is present from the get go. Jason is HOT. Jason burns up the pages HOT. And Casey is a sexy little vixen when she’s with Jason. But Casey refuses to lead Jason on any more. They aren’t a couple anymore, yet Jason is always there when she needs him. Needing to be separated from Jason and her feelings and desires for him pushes Casey to follow her dream of being a ski instructor out west, so she moves to Colorado in search of something new.
In Colorado Casey meets and becomes smitten with Blaine, a hot ski instructor in the charming ski town of Breckenridge. Somehow Casey gets her hooks in him and they begin a sweet and charming love affair. He’s everything she’s ever wanted, but she just doesn’t get those butterflies… the tingles when she kisses him like she SHOULD… and every time they kiss, her mind wanders to Jason.
Whether its coincidence or fate, Jason and Casey’s paths cross again, and some self-discoveries are made along the way. Will Casey stay strong to her ideals of wanting the perfect future with the perfect guy, or will she follow her heart and go after those wild butterfly feelings? Surprises, revelations, tragedy, and hope are intertwined throughout the story, which makes the reader want to continue reading to see how everything will turn out.
I liked reading this book. The story starts off strong and ends on a hot note, but the middle of the book didn’t capture my attention as much as the beginning and ending. I look forward to reading book 2 and hope that it’s about Casey’s friend Gretchen. I just have a feeling that there’s something more to Gretchen and I want more of her sass and loyalty. One of the other things I enjoyed about this story are the secondary characters. I like the group of friends Jason, Blaine and Casey hang with and want to peek in on them all again.
This was a fun read filled with anticipation, lust, and learning to trust your feelings.

Sounds like maybe the author is setting up for a companion novel with the side characters. Even though I can’t watch sports without falling asleep I love books that have to do with anything sporty for some reason >.< Glad you liked it even if the middle lost your interest a bit. Great review, Kristi!
