Kristi’s Thoughts…
I need to begin with how much I loved, Loved, LOVED Lori Foster’s SBC series. I read them awhile ago, awhile ago meaning in paperback form, prior to my eReader. So I’ve been a fan for a long time. I was stoked to receive an ARC of this book and dove right in.
Denver and Cherry are an explosive couple. If you’re a fan of insta-love and insta-lust, you will love this book. I think it was an instant pairing because I’m assuming in book one, there is build up, but since I didn’t read book one, I’m only guessing. I love an alpha man and Denver is about as alpha and controlling as they come. Cherry has a shady past and when that past resurfaces— Denver stakes his claim and wants to protect her from any harm.
If I’m honest, this isn’t my favorite Lori Foster book, but it is a good read. I’m used to reading books primarily from one or even a dual POV, so when there’s multiple POVs, it confuses me and I do not get that invested in the characters. What I liked—the sex scenes. They’re hot and Denver is an enjoyable alpha male. I really do love the caveman act in books and Denver certainly staked his claim, early on. He’s a true definition of a tall, strong, controlling, HOT alpha. I also enjoyed meeting a new circle of alpha males and their headstrong, funny, and loyal love interests. My favorite parts in this book are the interactions with the secondary characters, which held a lot of my interest. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series so that these characters become closer friends.
