I had always been the invisible art student in high school.
Passed by. Glossed over. Unnoticed.
Now I was Aria Watson…that girl.

After one bad decision, and being labeled a slut, I was no longer unseen. I was the whore. The ignoramus. The tramp.

I would never be invisible again.
Particularly to Levi Myers. He was the odd boy with the beautiful soul who accepted and understood the broken girl inside me.

Falling in love wasn’t the plan. But how could I resist his promises of hope? Of forgiveness? Of a future I had stopped dreaming of?

We were shattered. We were scarred. We were something strange and beautiful.
We were two lost souls holding on to the only thing that could keep us together.

Each other.

I think I found a new “go to” author. And she’s adorable and her words melt my heart, make me feel, and lift my spirits. Brittainy has a way of telling a story in a way that makes my emotions surface in such a way that I’m smiling while I’m crying. Her words, strewn together, in such a particular way that makes my heart skip a beat and my breath catch on a gasp, or sometimes a sigh.

When I need to feel, to escape my busy life for a few hours, I know who to turn to for that escape.

I picked up Art and Soul on a whim really. My friend Bev said she beta read The Air He Breathes, and while I was waiting for that to release, she recommended Art and Soul. So I picked it up. And devoured it. It was so different that what I expected it to be. It, in itself was an oxymoron. It made me sad, yet happy. It made me laugh, and cry. It made me feel, numb and alive.

Set in high school, this is a touching tale of finding oneself, and appreciating what one has, or who you are, in life. It serves as a reminder that opposites do attract, and that truth is often found under layers and layers of not lies, but more like protection-barriers of steel that help with dealing with the hard truths in life.

Aria is an outcast with only one friend in high school. Facing school is always a challenge and she’s about to become more of a freak and a statistic as she begins her junior year. The new boy in town catches everyone’s eyes, yet his are only on the unique girl in his neighborhood. The story of Aria and Levi is as special and unique as a rare treasure.

Love this story.

Love this author!
