Never Tear Us Apart
Monica Murphy
Published on January 5, 2015
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Romantic Suspense Perfect for readers of Colleen Hoover, Jay Crownover, and K. A. Tucker, the first novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy kicks off an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.
Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I’m a fifteen-year-old again—the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She’s grown-up now—beautiful, quiet, composed—and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.
I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she’s safe.
Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.
So, yeah, I’m stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she’ll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.
My father.
Advance praise for Never Tear Us Apart
“All the best parts of romance and betrayal . . . I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.”—New York Times bestselling author Jay Crownover
“A powerful story that left me raw yet hopeful.”—USA Today bestselling author K. A. Tucker

This book gave me all the feels. Once it arrived on my Kindle, and discovered what it is really about, I was at first hesitant to read this story. It’s a bit darker than my usual read, but the execution of the chapters captivated my attention.

Told in dual POV, from past and present times, I felt that I became a part of this story. I was right there with Katie at the amusement park when she was 12, I was right there with Will when he was talking to the detective and understanding what monster his father really is, and right there when the past catches up to their future.
Throughout the book I was rooting for both Katherine and Ethan. I was desperate for her to put the pieces together, to truly feel who Ethan is, and understand why the secrecy of his identity was a much needed secret. While my heart broke for Katie and everything she went through, and how much courage and strength it takes to simply live each day as a survivor, my heart leaned towards Ethan the most.

Ethan’s journey is just as heart wrenching as Katie’s. While Katie suffered indescribable torture, Ethan too has suffered. He truly is her guardian angel and acted with heart and conscientiousness since he was fifteen. Ethan has been alone all his life, I ached for him to find comfort and most of all, love.
This story is unique, it’s powerful and intense. The characters stay with you, long after you read the last page. The only thing that was disappointing is the wait for book two!![]()
