GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Song of the Fireflies by JA Redmerski

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Song of the Fireflies by JA Redmerski

I have to admit, I was very, very doubtful, almost until the very end, that this story would have a HEA. And normally I wouldn’t tell you that in a book that runs off despair and hopelessness, but I think it’s warranted in this case. It was very easy for me to slip into Bray’s depression and Elias’ desperate attempts to save her from herself, I really got caught up in it. So I’d just like you to know going in, this one has a HEA. But the struggle – damn. It’s quite the struggle. At first I thought the struggle was the crime ‘spree’ these two main characters are involved in. The book opens with them holed up in a convenience store, surrounded by cops. It then flashes back to their childhood, how they met, how their friendship progressed, the adult problems that they face. But always there’s this… Read more »

$50 GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Chasing Wishes by Nadia Simonenko

EXCERPT He raises a finger to his lips, loops his arm around mine and then guides me slowly toward the bed. My pulse quickens in excitement, beating faster and faster with each step closer to those exquisitely comfortable sheets, and then it skips a beat entirely as Terrence whispers into my ear. “I’d like you to try something a little different tonight,” he whispers, and I shiver in delight as his lips brush against my ear. He sits cross-legged in the middle of the bed, and I climb up and sit beside him, first smoothing out my short black skirt as if trying to retain some modicum of decency and then giving up and sitting on my knees instead. Even though I know he can’t see me flashing him, I still feel self-conscious about it for some reason. “I hope you’re not bored of me already,” I tease. Now that… Read more »

NEW RELEASE EXCERPT: The Hardest Part by Heather London

NEW RELEASE EXCERPT: The Hardest Part by Heather London

EXCERPT “Here, take this. We don’t have much time.” Mike’s frantic voice was loud in my ear. Still dazed, I glanced up at him and saw he was holding an envelope out for me to take. My eyes stared at the envelope, but I couldn’t make myself reach out for it. “Emily.” Mike’s voice was soft but firm. “I know this is a lot to take in, but I need you to concentrate. Take the envelope.” He enunciated the last few words slowly, carefully. My hands shook as I reached out for it. “I’m not sure I can do this, Mike.” I finally found my voice. “This is crazy. I—I don’t know where to go.” Once I had the envelope in my grasp, it felt like it weighed a hundred pounds. “You can do this. This life you’ve been living, this isn’t a life for you. Anywhere is better than… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Cup of Life by Juliana Haygert

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Cup of Life by Juliana Haygert

EXCERPT I finished the beer, considered going back to bed, but decided Zelen would keep snoring, and I could use another drink. I threw the empty bottle in the trash and opened the fridge. I closed it when I heard mumbling. I kept still, paying attention to it. The mumbling sounded louder this time, and I followed it. I ended up facing the first bedroom’s door. Nadine’s. “No,” I heard her voice through the door. “Oh, God, please, no!” Knowing exactly what was going on, I swung the door open and entered the bedroom. “Nicole,” she whimpered, thrashing in her bed. “No, no!” I closed the door behind me and rushed to her side. “Nadine,” I called her, touching her shoulder. “Wake up, Nadine.” “Oh, God, Morgan.” Then she screamed. I grabbed her upper arms and shook her, not too hard, but not too gentle either. “Nadine!” Her scream died… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Weak for Him by Lyra Parish

GIVEAWAY and EXCERPT: Weak for Him by Lyra Parish

Mr. Felton stood facing the windows in a neatly pressed suit. The black tie complemented the black suit, designer from head to toe. His green eyes met my brown gaze, and I smiled, but only received the ghost of one in return. Once the secretary left us, I searched the room, trying to take in every little detail: abstract art on the wall, a conference table in the back, and a lounge area in the middle. The afternoon light cast a yellow glow in the room. A large oak desk, which screamed business executive, had two chairs tucked in front. The room looked comfortable, welcoming, but also professional. The red velvet curtains that overlooked the atrium were jerked closed. “Hi, Finnley. Thank y—” “It’s Mr. Felton.” My face flushed. How could I be so inconsiderate and unprofessional? I immediately felt stupid. “Mr. Felton. Thank you for allowing me to interview…. Read more »

GIVEAWAY and STEAMY EXCERPT: TAUT: The Ford Book by JA Huss

STEAMY EXCERPT FORD I kneel down in front of her legs and she moans again, so I get back up and go to the basket of essentials I asked the concierge to provide in the bedroom basket. There’s two black silk scarves in there and I bring them both over to her, setting one on the bed, and holding the other up to her face. She watches carefully. “I don’t want you to come until I tell you to, understand?” She nods. “Yes,” she says as she tries to stay in control. “You’re never gonna last, Ashleigh.” She laughs. “I’m sorry, you—I just—Ford, just looking at you makes me come. I can’t help it.” I shake the scarf. “Which is why we need this for now. I’ll take it off in a little bit, but for now, you need it. Don’t you agree?” “Yes.” She smiles up at me and… Read more »

In this scene, Corabelle has been recovering from pneumonia after taking a winter plunge into the ocean. The spray was delicious, pounding and hot. I washed my hair, then washed it again, finally starting to feel like the sand grit was really gone. I wished for Gavin to be with me, pressing against my back, his arms around me. We’d only showered together once in this brief time we’d been… Read more »
