Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors Read In 2012

Top Ten Tuesday – is an original feature – weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and exists so that everyone can share their love of lists with other bookish peeps!    For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate click here! Julie’s Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors Read In 2012   Personally, I think the first two, Cassandra Rose Clarke and CJ Roberts, while writing VASTLY different things, are both very talented writers.  I think out of the entire list, these two ladies blow the others away.  Not to take anything away from the authors listed below them, but if anyone could write literary erotica, it’s CJ Roberts, her books are – Just. That. Good.  Not many people can pen a train-wreck of a relationship (and that’s putting it mildly) and have you loving the bad guy so completely by the end.  And… Read more »

Retrograde: Week In Review #1

Retrograde: Week In Review #1

Retrograde is going to be a weekly meme for me on Sunday where I look back on a book I love and put it out there to the world, as well as look back on the previous week’s activities.  I’m sure there are a ton of characters who qualify as new adult, but they are really hard to think up!  Mostly literature has passed this age group over, so I’m going to pick an obscure one.  Fallen Dragon by Peter F. Hamilton. First of all – this is space opera.  If you’re never read space opera it’s like fantasy in space – or at least with lots of futuristic elements. In the case of Fallen Dragon we have two major plot lines  – one is the soldier Lawrence Newton (he’s not new adult – he’s seasoned killer with lots of regrets for how he’s lived out his youth and he’s… Read more »

REVIEW: The Benson By Karina Halle

REVIEW: The Benson By Karina Halle

Review of The Benson by Karina Halle An Experiment in Terror Novella (#2.5) This short story/novella sees amateur Youtube ghost-hunters, Perry Palomino and Dex Foray, investigating the real-life hauntings of Portland’s infamous Benson Hotel. It occurs between books #2 (Red Fox) and #3 (Dead Sky Morning) and is the perfect primer for anyone interested in the EIT series. REVIEW: The Benson is a quick short story that takes place between books two and three.  In this book Perry and Dex are at it again!  My favorite ghost-hunting  team are at the famous Benson Hotel in Portland.  If you follow my reviews at all you know I love this series – mostly I just love Perry.  I could just gush on and on about her in every review and this time I’d just like to say picturing her ass-end up head-first in a laundry basket almost made me pee my pants. … Read more »
