REVIEW: Finding My Way by Heidi McLaughlin

REVIEW: Finding My Way by Heidi McLaughlin

REVIEW Heidi McLaughlin does it again. I don’t care how I feel about the book going in (No one will compare to Liam and JoJo… Nothing will tear me away for my love for Mason and Katelyn…)  I always leave totally captivated!  I love this world. At first I wasn’t sure I was interested in Liam’s pre-story to Forever My Girl, but damn if i didn’t get sucked in and yeah, even though I knew some of the plot points because I’ve read all the other books, each one touched me the same way this time as it did the first time. I was anxiously waiting for them to come, in fact. With that said, you do not have to read all the other books to enjoy this one. In fact, It’s perfect to actually start the series with Finding My Way, because really, this is the beginning of the… Read more »

This story starts out strong with a heart broken Serena enjoying a girls night out with her best friend and roomie. In walks ladies man millionaire, late 20’s hunk, who is pompous and conceited, yet makes Serena (and my) panties damp with his quick wit and bold statements. TOUR REVIEW: Frenched by Melanie Harlow

TOUR REVIEW: Frenched by Melanie Harlow

C’est  tres bonne! This is the first book I’ve read by Melanie Harlow and it won’t be the last. Frenched is my favorite kind of story to read; it’s smart, funny, emotional, and very sexy. I found myself smiling through entire chapters, unable to stop reading. The story captures your interest immediately and you instantly bond with the characters in the book. We meet Mia just days after her fiancé dumps her only a week before their mega-wedding of the year is supposed to take place. She’s devastated, humiliated, and heart-broken. With the encouragement from her two best friends, and the threat of a visit from her mother, she decides to go on her would-be honeymoon to Paris. When arriving in Paris, she remains in a sour mood as she is alone and cannot escape the overwhelming amount of romance in the city of lights. Everywhere she looks she sees… Read more »

$25 GIVEAWAY and SERIES SPOTLIGHT: Beyond by Maureen Miller

$25 GIVEAWAY and SERIES SPOTLIGHT: Beyond by Maureen Miller

REVIEW BEYOND by Maureen Miller This book was a nice surprise. Not only was it well written, but it kept me captivated the entire time. Miller’s writing flows easily through the story as she describes how Aimee, a young teenager from Earth must cope with the fact that she was just abducted from Earth and has no chance of returning for five years. Supposedly the “abduction” was a mistake caused by a young scientist who was on Earth to gather plant life that might be critical to the survival of his race. The aliens on the Guardian ship Horus, also human-like – and just let me stop here because I’ve seen a lot of readers say human-like aliens are a lack of imagination on the author’s part. But I have to disagree. As a scientist, the human body plan makes a lot of sense. Why wouldn’t it be duplicated? Anyway… Read more »

GUEST REVIEW: Beautiful Addictions by Season Vining

GUEST REVIEW: Beautiful Addictions by Season Vining

Beautiful Addictions by Season Vining Publication date January 28th, 2014 I would like to thank both St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC. Although I received this book for free, in no way did that influence my review. Twenty-two year old Josie Banks leads a rough life by most anyone’s standards. She does whatever drugs she gets her hands on, sleeps with total strangers for drugs, a place to sleep, or simply as a distraction from her messed up life. She doesn’t remember life being anything other than hard. Her life consists of her tagging around the city, drugs, sex, and bringing food to her friend Gavin, who then distributes it to the homeless kids in the area. The only time that pattern is interrupted is when her former social worker, Monica, stops by her place. Monica is always trying to get Josie to clean… Read more »

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Layers by Sigal Ehrlich

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW: Layers by Sigal Ehrlich

REVIEW: Layers is an adult romance with Hayley, forced into applying for an internship after losing a bet. And Daniel, Mr. Stark, the billionaire owner of the company where said bet is carried through to the end. I found the beginning to be a little too fast. I did enjoy this book, and the characters were well developed, but the actual relationship really wasn’t. I didn’t really like Daniel. He treated his employees pretty bad, and although he was sweet with Hayley, it was very Jekyll and Hyde. Even Hayley mentions this, so it was on purpose. Even though he had a good explanation for why he was so aloof, I just didn’t connect with him all that much until the very end. The pacing was good and there was a lot going on in the book. One thing in particular was the running internal monologue in Hayley’s head. I… Read more »

FAVORITE BOOK OF 2013: The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

FAVORITE BOOK OF 2013: The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

Damn, I read a lot of books this year. But since I suck at keeping track of just about everything, I have no idea how many.  I have no idea how many people visited this blog, close to 200K, I have no real idea how many followers I have unless the damn widget keeps REAL track for it for me, I have no idea how much I spend of graphics or contests.  I’m an account’s nightmare.  😀 I don’t even know how many books I’ve sold, but Jana Aston made me a spreadsheet, so technically I could look. I’m just not a numbers person.  In fact, I’m quite lazy when it comes to just about everything.  Don’t let the prolific blog posts and books fool you. I’m damn lazy. BUT I do know what I like and these here are just SOME of the many great reads I found this… Read more »

REVIEW: Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters

REVIEW: Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters

REVIEW: Monsters in the Dark is an aptly named title of this series because these two books are dark. This is probably the darkest erotica I’ve ever read, bearing in mind I don’t read a lot of it, but I’ve read my share of the captive books. In Tears of Tess, Tess is unsettled in what seems to be a perfect relationship with her boyfriend Brax. He’s very vanilla. Like, he’s the most boring vanilla guy who ever existed, so really, I can’t blame her in that respect. She needs a more adventurous sex life, but she thinks she loves Brax, so she’s hanging in there. While on a special trip to Mexico she’s kidnapped and falls into the hands of a brutal human trafficker. Q becomes Tess’ new owner later in the first book and I have to be honest, it took me the entire book to actually like… Read more »

REVIEW: Finding my Forever by Heidi McLaughlin

REVIEW: Finding my Forever by Heidi McLaughlin

The Beaumont series just keeps getting better and better. I adored Forever my Girl – it was a sweet second chance romance that was just heartwarming. But I LOVED My Unexpected Forever so much. I really connected with that story. So when I started Finding My Forever I wasn’t sure what I was in for. I fell in love with Harrison and Katelyn and that whole story. But I tell you this book totally took me by surprise. This is the BEST Beaumont book so far. I fell in love with Jimmy and Jenna – and look they even have matching first name letters! This book takes all the other stories and piles on a heap of danger, mystery, and a perfect happily ever after. Every single time I thought I had this story wrapped up, I got another surprise! One I sat up and gasped! I was like –… Read more »
