I was totally into hard SF for a few years before I started book blogging…but here goes… 1,2, and 3 Altered Carbon, Broken Angels, Woken Furies (The Takeshi Kovacs series, by Richard K. Morgan) – all three so these were, and still are, my favorite books both before book blogging and after. This series is violent, it’s dirty, it’s futuristic, it’s got treason, and Envoy soldiers, and extinct Martians who resemble pterodactyls. It’s got giant spaceships, space war, planet… Read more »

I mean, it’s almost always about the characters or the plot or the cover, or the romance. Almost never the settings. But I love settings and I actually do have some favorites. Here we go: 10. Deserts – There’s just something hot and sweaty about stories told in the desert. It’s a whole different world. For some reason, maybe because of my wild youthful days, the desert is sexy. Plus, Vegas is in the desert. Enough… Read more »

I’ll start with Bookish Goals for Book Blogging: Get my new blog, Clean Teen Reads up to the same level as New Adult Addiction. Julie’s Top Ten Books She Resolves To Read In 2013 WOW – I have such a long TBR list I can’t even believe it, but here’s the top ten on my list right now. These books are one’s I want to read for personal reasons and not just for blogging reasons. The Host by Stephanie Meyer – This one has been on my TBR list for a few months already and I honestly thought I would’ve read it by Thanksgiving. The Hydrogen Sonata by Iain M. Banks – I should be reading this right now, in fact. Again, I’ve put this… Read more »

For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate click here! Julie’s Top Ten Favorite Books Read In 2012 Fiction 1. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor – this was, hands, down, the best book I read (besides my own, of course) in 2012. I had mixed feelings about the first one, not really enjoying the back story as much as the present story, but this book changed all that for me. I never did connect with Karou’s old self, but I did appreciate the multiple points of view a little more this time around. I‘m really looking forward to the next book and I sincerely hope she’s hard at work… Read more »

For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate click here! Julie’s Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors Read In 2012 Personally, I think the first two, Cassandra Rose Clarke and CJ Roberts, while writing VASTLY different things, are both very talented writers. I think out of the entire list, these two ladies blow the others away. Not to take anything away from the authors listed below them, but if anyone could write literary erotica, it’s CJ Roberts, her books are – Just. That. Good. Not many people can pen a train-wreck of a relationship (and that’s putting it mildly) and have you loving the bad guy so completely by the end. And… Read more »
